An eloquent oration by a true consevative. The bill was in fact narrowly defeated. For those unaware, Lauzen is heading up campaign efforts for a felow State Senator and GOP US Senate hopeful, Steve Rauschenberger.

I eagerly read this thread in the hope that somehow, in my selfishness, I had lost track of a few reasons left to value citizenship.
I was wrong.
What a depressing way to start a new week.
And, ironically, what a depressing way to spend Veterans Day eve. Men and women died by the hundreds of thousands to preserve a way of life that, at least politically, no longer has a special positive meaning.
As Ralph Cramden would say, "What a revolting development this is!"

"A driver who does not understand English is a hazard on the road, as the Willis family found out so tragically."
Can anyone provide the story on this? I have always wondered why one is allowed to take the driving test in languages other than English, when all the road signs are in English. I'm sure one can learn what a "stop" sign is, etc., but anything complex, regarding detours, hazards, etc. that would be a little tricky. In Jersey they offer the driving test in who-knows-how-many languages, and we've got the drivers to prove it!

US citizenship only has value if their are specific benefits. To construe this debate as an effort to discriminate is to blatantly (and in some cases intentionally) miss the most important point.

I called our courageous Senator Chris Lauzen (Aurora) Who has been very outspoken on Illegal Immigration and has taken alot of heat.
Please let him know how much it means to you that he is Upholding our Constitution in Illinois and looking out for our protection , safety, and welfare of the folks that live in Illinois!! 630-264-2334
I asked his secretary what could YOU and I do BESIDES calling our local Senators?
((Find yours at www.elections.state.il.us)or do a google search for "Illinois state board of elections" and you will see a listing to find your district and your Senator by your address))
PLEASE call these folks who's vote is still up in the air, they are voting again probably next week!
Peoria..George Schadil...309-353-6376
Dick Winkel Champaign Il ...217-328-0400
Southern Il (Carlinville) Vince Dimuso .....217-854-4441
They are Democrats, who cares, call them anyway.
2 KEY folks (1) from the Downers Grove Glen Elyn area

Dave Sullivan (Republican)from the Schaumburg area
847-734-0033

If only he could get Rauschy to see the light on this issue and dumb that suicidal amnesty plan so he could win the GOP primary.
Chris Lauzen's probably the best guy we have in the state Senate today. He has been terrific in the U.S. Senate campaign. He's working for Rauschy but had something positive to say about all the candidates, especially Dr. Kathuria (the only candidate to release an issue statement decrying illegal immigration)
