A Letter to John Walsh
An Open Letter from the Author | 11/9/03 | Dave Donley

Click here: The John Walsh Show or http://www.johnwalsh.tv/html/map_tickets/watch.html In response to the call to write the John Walsh show I submitted the following:

I am a paralegal in Vermont that was diagnosed "clinically depressed" and advised to do other work for all the "legal abuses" I witnessed heaped upon children and families in this state by Vermont's Child Protective Services, (SRS) and our courts. I worked for the Community Law Center and Vermont chapter of the Children's Rights Council where I met many “Victims" of the agency. There have been many complaints (and successful civil suits) against the agency in Vermont. A key word search, “SRS,” of the state's newspaper indexes available on line from the state's library page prove this assertion. From my experience of hosting many meetings for the CRC and screening clients for the CLC I have learned first hand the meaning of "Cognitive Dissonance". Many of the complaints families make about the agency go unheeded by the public because they defy our sense of justice and what our government authorities SHOULD stand for and be doing. Much of what should be is not and vice-versa. Groups like National Coalition for Child Protection Reform and CPSwatch are pointing out (using the government’s own statistics, reports and case workers confessions) that children in the state's care are more at risk of abuse, neglect, even premature death than children in the general population. In Vermont there have been too many documented and publicized cases about the abuses to ignore but our government does! There have been many “legislative studies” with no change. Many of us here are hoping the suit by Judicial Watch against former governor, candidate for president, Howard Dean, will expose some of the abuses his “blind eye” administration encouraged and facilitated in this state. http://www.judicialwatch.org/3518.shtml While he was governor, a little girl in Vermont’s SrS care was found murdered in a N.Y. City apartment. Dean did nothing but make excuses for the agency. Investigations by police in N.Y. confirmed what many victimized families had been reporting for years, she and several other girls, all in SRS care had been transported back and forth, over an extended period of time, from Burlington Vermont to N.Y. City as part of a “Child Prostitution Ring.” Recent reports posted on the NET about children of the O’Dell family who have been raped and drugged while in the state’s custody indicate nothing has changed with the agency. For years many children's advocates have been pointing out federal incentive grants, more than any child's best interests, are motivating this most publicly feared government agency. It is bad economics, bad public policy and the abuses couldn’t occur without the rubber stamp collusion of the courts. Apparently there is more concern for the state’s revenue and “business for the legal fraternity” than anyone’s rights, the legislative intent for family court, or the “public welfare” (sounds cynical I know but FACT is stranger than FICTION when it comes to our courts). Congress, after ignoring many of its' own commissioned studies, has finally decided to investigate through the house ways and means committee. Unfortunately it appears as with many “results orientated” government studies they are NOT addressing the detrimental effects of “false reporting,” suborned perjury, fabricated evidence, coerced confessions, state kidnapped kids traumatized, drugged and held hostage by the agency. Just some of the many reasons people say CPS is a misnomer and gives new meaning to the term “state sponsored terrorism.” There have been many class action suits against CPS demonstrating “systematic abuses” yet our NATIONS children and families are forced to reinvent the wheel and litigate the issue jurisdiction by jurisdiction. If you were to focus on what this one agency is doing to America’s children and families you would be doing a public service of immeasurable magnitude. I pray God you will “open your heart and mind” to the silenced cries of our nations children and families victimized by CPS and ignored by those sworn to represent us all. You would find many reputable groups like VOCAL (Victims of Child Abuse Laws), NCCPR, CPSWATCH, Children’s Defense Fund, and individuals willing to support your efforts. If you listen to the testimony and look at the methods, means and tactics employed by the agency and legal community in regards to this issue you will understand the enormity of the problem, the potential for constructive change your show can help effect for America’s children and families and the immense gratitude you would reap for your efforts. Respectfully, David A. Some of the people I know in Vermont believe he may be the anti-Christ! A look at his track record would make any THINKING voter run. BUT, sadly, I fear that we don't HAVE thinking voters, for the most part. gotta try to wake them up, and pray they can assimilate and process the facts. Grim, indeed.

Dean will do to America what he encourages the courts of Florida to do for
Terri Schiavo

As it seems he has done for many of the children and pre-born of his own state
imo
