Yet another Democratic presidential candidate has put his foot in his mouth while trying to appeal to Southern voters, and this time it's a Southerner himself, Gen. Wesley Clark. "All Americans, even if they're from the South and 'stupid,' should be represented," Clark told the New York Daily News on Thursday, in a quote first reported in Sunday editions.
Clark was commenting on ex-Vermont Gov. Howard Dean's attempt to reach out to Confederate flag carrying Southerners - and he prefaced his "stupid Southerners" comment with the qualifier: "This is a joke."
Who knew Gen. Clark was such a comedian.
What's next? Will the Arkansas Rhodes scholar follow his quip about stupid Southerners with more "humorous" stereotyping about Irish drunkards, cheap Jews and lazy blacks?
That would surely spice up the campaign trail.

Well, Clark is out so I guess that means Dean will be the challenger... unless Hillary dykes her way into the race.

I can see that Clark's IQ is well below 100. That speaks volumes.

"All Americans, even if they're from the South and 'stupid,' should be represented," That's a stupid thing to say, but it should not be seen as offensive...unless you are from the South AND stupid.
He's not saying everyone from the South is stupid.

He's not saying everyone from the South is stupid. Maybe, but the implication is that everyone from the North is smart and therefore the only "stupid" people are in the South.
These guys are just reaping the political correctness that they sewed. This should be the end of Clark's run.

Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an asshole Well, at least ignorant and an a$$hole. It can certainly apply to Dean and Clark. Shouldn't they know by now that Political Correctness does not permit any jests about any group. Even Southerners are now included. We have come a long way, baby!
Whaddya know, maybe even Christians and pro-lifers are next? Nahhh.

Dean didn't put his foot in his mouth. It's too calculated for that.
Are Dean's numbers up? Did every liberal media person play this story to the hilt? Wonder why?
Democrats know how to whip blacks and still get their votes. Racist code? Sister Soulja? Play'em for fools.

"Is Clark including himself among the "stupid southerners"?"
If he cannot say 'this is a joke' and then make a joke about his own area of origin (some would call this self-deprecation), what jokes IS he allowed to make?
To: TommyDale
This is all pretty clear. Democrats cannot depend on the white southern vote. They can depend on the black vote nationwide. Therefore the conundrum. The main problem is, however, the math in the equation. There are more white people than there are black people.
John Edwards and other candidates are now dredging for a new class of democrat voters. Convicted felons. These folks will take their votes where they can get them, and if some "dumb" southern hicks want to vote for them, well, that's their problem, not the party's.

He's not saying everyone from the South is stupid. And he's not saying anything funny, either. So, if it's a joke, it's a bad one.
