an African American studies professor had forbidden Clarett from returning to her class after he missed at least five sessions and slept during others. "Screech! Racism!"

10 years from now, ESPN will do a story on this guy from behind bars, penniless, serving a life term, asking how white society failed this talented young man. No one will mention his stealing stereo equipment, taking illegal money and other misdeeds while on scholarship at one of the best schools in the country. It will be blamed on racism. Only blacks will watch, because whites will have turned the channel to Hee Haw.

She will no doubt get a phone call from "Uncle Jesse" about being a "team player" and "taking care" of a brother.

The saddest thing regarding Clarrett is some NFL team will draft him, and pay him millions and hope he was just "misunderstood".
Another Ryan Leaf ?
Another Jeff George ?

Two points: First of all if anyone employed by the university leaked this info, they are in deep doo doo. In Mississippi we are not even allowed to post grades by ss# or any other kind of identifier for fear of violating a student's privacy. He's already got a ton of money coming to him if anyone other than him or a parent released this info.
My second point is for kudos to the professor who had the cajones to stand up to the overwhelming pressure I am sure she has been facing. I have seen first hand what kind of pressure is brought to bear on an "uncooperative" instructor. And that was at a third rate football school. I can't imagine what the pressure would be like at a real football power.
