[history]
One thing we know about Army Lt. Col. Allen B. West is that he actually collected human intelligence in Iraq.
Another is that his emergency information-gathering technique may have saved American lives without taking enemy lives. And a third is that the Army has relieved Col. West of his command, and may now court-martial him, cancel his pension and send him to prison for up to eight years.

I can't find that part of the UCMJ that says, "when you catch a spy and saboteur who is actively conspiring to murder your men during wartime and who is hiding his treachery behind a policeman's uniform, treat him with the utmost respect and care, for his tender feelings are far more important than the survival of the men in your command."
I'll keep searching for that provision. I'm sure it must be there.

I really can't believe this! Here Rumsfeld has another really great opportunity to piss off the Army, and he isn't taking it!

My understanding that they don't read electronic mail.

"The Defense Department may soon inflict an injustice on an American hero, whose wife, a cancer survivor, depends on his military health benefits, and whose daughters, who first gave him up to a war, may now give him up to prison." This is a great morale booster for our servicemen. What are these people thinking anyway?

Try this one on for size: Who was the moron who decided to use female interrogators with an male Islamic prisoner? There is no way this policeman was about to give up anything to these two women. Who ever is responsible for that deserves to hear about it in no uncertian terms.

Some people are more concerned with tying our soldiers' hands than they are with destroying the enemy and winning the war. They serve the traitorous demiocratic left who want to indict our soldiers and our president and cast us as villians in an attempt to make us lose this war, like they made us lose Viet Nam.
To: SubMareener
I really like the analogy here with the US policy of Mutually Assured Destruction. However, if Rumsfeld simply reaches down and exonerates this individual, then the message will not be as strong as if Lt Col West goes through the army judicial process and is found innocent of these charges. If the message comes directly from the army, it will more profound.

"My understanding that they don't read electronic mail." How did you arrive at that understanding?
