Four of the nine Democratic presidential candidates have formally withdrawn from the Jan. 13 D.C. primary, undercutting the city's bid to influence the nomination process and highlight its lack of congressional voting rights. Removing their names from the ballot were Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (D-Conn.), Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.), Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) and Rep. Richard A. Gephardt (D-Mo.).
All four had letters hand-delivered to the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics late Thursday afternoon withdrawing. The D.C. Council passed a law last month putting all the candidates on the ballot unless they opted out...

Al Sharpton filed a candidacy letter, even though it was not necessary, at the D.C. election board on Wednesday to highlight his interest in winning the city's primary. Can you see the headline? Al Sharpton Wins Beauty Contest!

How many primaries is Lieberman going to drop out of?Hey, if he drops out of enough primaries he'll REALLY improve his chances of winning.

Doesn't DC have only 1 electoral vote? And do they have that one? When I lived there, the congress person could not vote.

Odd.
On the face of it, it seems like all of these whould want the free publicity of another vote.
UNLESS .... (dramatic pause) ....
These guys KNOW that the racist black voters of DC are going to vote Sharpton (AND who's-her-face) - instead of Hillary's annointed choice - and so the REST DON'T WANT TO APPROACH New Hampshire with a "loss" to Sharpton.
The early "margin" of "who won the last primary" is so great that a "win" in DC for Sharpton clears the way for HIM to actually gain momentum over Hillary's choice.

Al Sharpton could win DC, so could Carol Mosebly-Braun. Anyone could. If were Sharpton, I would be focusing on DC like there's no tomorrow.
Dean is still on the ballot and so is Wesley Clark, so it's all a big toss up right now.
