(New Haven-AP Nov. 7, 2003 8:00 AM) _ Dozens of students wore black gags over their mouths yesterday to protest a lecture at Yale University by Middle East scholar and commentator Daniel Pipes.
Critics say he is anti-Muslim, but Pipes insists he is aiming his fire only at those Muslims who are terrorists.
Pipes heads the Middle East Forum in Philadelphia and was recently nominated by President Bush to the U-S Institute of Peace.
He warned before September Eleventh, 2001, of a radical form of Islam that is on the rise and posed a danger to the United States and Western values.
He spoke to Yale students about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying that Israel wants to be recognized by its neighbors while Palestinians are set on destroying the Jewish state.

Gee, where's their tolerance? The college campus is nothing more than an echo chamber. If it's their OWN voices shouting their belief, well lets just protest.

What's wrong with being anti-Muslim? Anyone with a brain should be. Islam is the only religion that would be improved if it was taken over by secularist liberals.

"Dozens of students wore black gags over their mouths yesterday ..."Maybe they can really try to make a statement and make such clothing accessories a permanent fixture.

If the put black bags over their heads it would probably be an even bigger improvement.

They failed to quash dissent so they appropriate for themselves a persona of having their own "voices" squashed.
It's a convenient mask. Their "voices" are being challenged, argued, debated, which they are not used to in the American university context. They cannot reply successfully so they imbue themselves in the role of an oppressed. Their is no self-evident irony in their own gagging since they are authoritarians - for them freedom of speech is only a tool to an end, not a right or virtue.
Happens all the time since 9/11. Often this species claim their "dissent is being censored" when only it is being debated.

Simply stated, simply true. That's what it all comes down too.
Does anyone not believe the Palestinians could achieve all of their wishes through peaceful resistance?
Sometimes the truth is hard to take.

At the outbreak of the war, leading to Churchill' ascendency to the office of Prime Minister, he noted that his warnings about Hitler had "been so terribly vidicated that no one could now gainsay me" and deny him the office.
Evidently, these purile students at Yale would form an exception in the case or Mr. Pipes and, no doubt, in the case of Churchill as well.

Heck, don't you know, Bush is a fascist......
Good point about censorship. Perhaps a week in China or Saudi as an eyeopener might change their viewpoints.

Good point about censorship. When argument fails, claim oppression.

Does anyone not believe the Palestinians could achieve all of their wishes through peaceful resistance? Their wish is to conquer all of "Palestine" with all the Jews gone or dead. How can that be achieved through "peaceful" methods?
