You're right, they don't. But did they make one bit of effort to say "Er, it didn't really happen that way." So I can understand why people on FR are basher her for telling the truth as they want to believe the good stories the media tells them.

I think the decided to let it stand if it was in fact media hype. We don't know for sure and it may have been initiated by the pentagon.
