Well, I have tried to ditch the Jessica threads many times, but I just can't let the dogs chew on her.
She is on our damn side.
I don't fault the Pentagon for letting stand a good propaganda story, the war is a political animal they have to sell. Hers was a pretty face to sell it with when the PR out there needed a boost. We did need the morale boost we got from this story.
I also wouldn't expect anything but humility from Jessica. I have never heard anyone say "I am a hero". All the best heros are humble and deny it.

"Then I guess that makes up for her losing mine." When telling the truth makes you lose respect for somebody, that's your loss. But isn't life funny, before today's revelations it was I who was constantly taking heat for my anti-Jessica comments in here. But this little gal is spunky, she stood me on my ear with her honesty and courage. She's standing up to the puppetmasters who would try to embellish her story for their own gain. Not many people do that anymore.

Jessica: "Army used me"
She is capitalizing on respect and admiration that American people have for true heroes, although she is not a hero.
And she is accusing US Army of using her.

"You have the media invade your lawn and live there for weeks interested in your daughter who you are terribly worried about and interested in. And you handle it better. "
The point was, they didn't seem concerned about privacy. If they were, you would've seen a lot of "no comments" and no press conferences. But how is that all the Administrations fault? Are they supposed to tell the media to leave her alone?

You are twisting it around. That isn't what she said the administration did. The administration filmed her rescue and she doesn't know why. She is embarrassed perhaps about it.

A sargent was her fiancee? Isn't that fraternization?

A sargent was her fiancee? Isn't that fraternization? Yes, but often overlooked if the NCO is not directly in the soldier's chain of command.

Re: The weapon didn't jam if she never fired it.
"Perhaps "didn't work" is a better term. So you're saying that she's a liar? She's either a liar, or her brain didn't work. I've suprervised grammer school kids, girls and boys that never had a problem with the first shot. You pull the charging handle back and them push the release lever. Unless the mag is empty, or somehow forced in backwards, the gun ends up cocked and locked and fires when the trigger's pulled. She's an adult in the Army and M16/4s aren't some new gizmo with quirks.
To: lelio
They didn't go out of their way to say that this heroic figure story was fabricated. You know how the media works... a retraction doesn't get as much attention as yesterday's screaming headlines!

She never asked for any of this. Now that she is the 'media darling' she will be torn down by the same media that has built her into something that she never was. I don't fault Private Lynch. I fault the media. I am more appalled by the fact that they will use her and throw her away and she doesn't even see it coming.

"If that is what she's saying, she's pretty low-rent."
If this is true, and she's bad-mouthing the military, shame on her. She wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for them. She doesn't like being filmed by the military, but she has no problem writing a book, or having a movie made about her ordeal? I find her comments to be a bit hypocritical to say the least. She should just keep her mouth shut.

So maybe you should be careful who you call a liar.

"Oh, I see. So not only was it staged, but the "Marines" were stupid enough to draw attention to themselves by firing at nothing? It's amazing anyone made it out of there alive." The Pentagon admitted they ran into no resistance. There wasn't even anyone in the hospital when the rescue team arrived. I'm not knocking the rescue effort, I've said all along they were the real heros. But I think, in an honest moment of reflection, we all know it was filmed for certain purposes. This is fine with me because I support this war effort all the way; but why knock this Lynch kid for being pissed at being used for propaganda by ALL sides, military, feminists, news media? Don't you see that by telling the truth she has knowingly lost out on fame and a huge fortune? Personal integrity is more important to her than everything else, this is what makes her an awesome young gal in this generation of greed and selfishness.
