Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller, vice chairman of the Intelligence Committee, authorized the memo outlining ways to use classified information to attack President Bush, according to a Senate source reported by Sean Hannity on his radio program. In speeches on the Senate floor, Mr. Rockefeller and Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin and Jon Corzine refused to repudiate the memo categorically. This is unacceptable. America is at war and cannot afford to have its intelligence services further compromised.

Call me a pessimist, but this is going to die a quick and silent death due to the lack of major media coverage and the intestinal fortitude of the Senate. The major media covered this story but inexplicably left out the main point of the memo concerning holding back and persuing this agenda next year, the election year. It's being spun as a minor indescretion and at the request of some Senators they even have the option of disavowing the memo completely.
I hope I'm wrong, I just don't trust them when they start closing ranks and start making excuses.

The disentegration of the Democratic party is a bad thing, IMHO, and cannot be healthy for this country.

And the reason it's disintegrating is that the moderates are cut out of the process. The party extremes rule the roost because far left demogaguery gets better air time, and makes for better sound bites. The moderates that acually decide elections are driven right and the far left can only accomplish their ends thruogh the courts, since they can't win elections with a leftist hard line.

The Dems draw the line in the sand with judicial nominees becasue it is the only viable alternative.

Bad for everyone, especially our form of government, which needs the checks and balances that only a multi party system can provide.

The one best thing the Dems could do to help themselves out? Turn their back on the Clintons. But they made the choice to defy reason and logic during the impeachment and I don't see how that can easily be repudated.
