Hitting a nuclear power plant would also be a way to divide the country. There would be areas of contamination people would be unable to travel through.

"Dividing America" makes me wonder how many bridges across the Mississippi River we have, particularly those on major interstates. I don't thinkt there are that many.

Taking them out would pretty much split the country in half. No more cargo going in either direction until they get rebuilt. Done right before the Christmas season starts it would cripple the economy.
