THE PELICAN TAPES: SUPER HOLLYWOOD LAWYER BERT FIELDS CAUGHT IN PROBE
Drudge Report ^ | November 6, 2003 | Matt Drudge

**Exclusive Details**

Famed Hollywood attorney Bert Fields has been questioned by the FBI in connection with a grand jury probe of techniques and practices by Anthony 'Pelican' Pellicano, onetime private investigator to the stars.

Now in the possession of the FBI are an astounding 2 billion double-spaced pages of text which was gleaned from Pellicano computer files.

Included in those 2 billion pages, DRUDGE has learned, are alleged wiretap transcripts.

MORE

Last month, Pellicano pleaded guilty to illegally possessing C-4 plastic explosives and two modified hand grenades.

According to Thursday runs of DAILY VARIETY, Fields, who has used Pellicano on a number of matters over the years, stressed that he has no knowledge of whether Pellicano had done illegal wiretaps and that he had never authorized any such activity. Fields said that some months ago, FBI agents showed up at his office to question him about Pellicano and that he received a subpoena to testify before a grand jury, but that he was later told it was not necessary for him to appear.

The Feds have interviewed entertainment people on both coasts, sources tell DRUDGE REPORT, in what appears to be a dramatic expansion of the Pelican probe.

Is it possible to have 2 billion pages? Or did someone extrapolate out 2 Gigs of data and into .txt files of 1 byte each?

Doesn't sound possible.

Probably has a whole three pages on Lazio:

From Newsmax.com -

Thursday June 22, 2000; 11:14 AM EDT
Lazio: Hillary Sicced Private Investigator on Me

U.S. Senate hopeful Rick Lazio alleged yesterday that his opponent Hillary Clinton hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on him as soon as he announced he would run against her.

The New York congressman said the development is an indication of the kind of dirty tricks campaign he expects Mrs. Clinton to wage in her bid for elected office.

Speaking to WABC radio's Sean Hannity Wednesday afternoon, Lazio revealed the Clinton campaign shocker:

"The first day, the first day that I got out of the box, they had an investigator with a camera following me around everywhere we went upstate. So that's the kind of tactics that we're up against."

The Clintons are notorious for hiring private investigators to go after opponents, enemies, witnesses or anyone else they perceive as a personal or political threat.

In 1992 the Clinton presidential campaign paid San Francisco gumshoe Jack Palladino $100,000 from its campaign kitty to help silence a number of women who staffers believed might claim affairs with the candidate.

According to longtime Clinton insider Dick Morris, Mrs. Clinton is behind the White House's "Secret Police" operations. Morris also claims that PIs like Palladino were bankrolled with taxpayer subsidized federal election matching funds.

Last year one-time Clinton mistress Gennifer Flowers told a New York talk radio audience that Palladino went around asking all her friends, "Is Gennifer the type to commit suicide?"

Though Lazio did not identify the Clinton investigator by name, other known Clinton dirt diggers include investigators Terry Lenzner, Anthony Pellicano and Democratic operative Ron Tucker.

Is this the old Clinton double-misleading-shuffle trick?

Remember the tape where he lied? His sewer dwellers planted the thought that he had lost his temper. When the tape was shown, Willie hadn't lost his temper while lying, but that was the whole left wing issue, "See, they were wrong, he didn't lose his temper."

Here, by planting an impossible number of 2 billion the Clinton sewer dwellers will be able to belittle any finding by discrediting the mis-fact that they, themselves, were able to insert via their friendlies in the neocommunist media.

Now, isn't Craig Livingstone, the guy Willie authorized to steal all the raw FBI files living out in LA, in a position to manage this guy's efforts? These computers pages, no matter how many there really are, may be the smoking gun proof of Willie and Hillie's filth and corruption. If Pellicrino goes to public trial, some become evidence. If he dies, ala Foster or McDougal, they don't and his heirs have the right to insist on the privacy of his personal papers. What can we do to ensure their (the papers) safety? How do we ensure their publication?

Hillary, Bill, and winged monkey Terry McAwful of the DNC just collectively soiled both the front and rear of their undergarments.

Inquiring minds want to know:

What could be in TWO BILLION PAGES of archives from an evil DNC thug/hitman/spy/disrupter/extortionist/"investigator"??

I once stored images on a free server that didn't allow images by converting them to text files.

Still, 2 billion pages does not sound possible.

How many of those two billion pages are from illegal wiretaps or surveillance of people involved in the various Clinton scandals?

This could be a gold mine if he kept old files from years past and might even lead to someone in Hillary's 2000 campaign staff. Shame is that much, if not all info, could not be used to investigate old matters or to clarify the public record in old Clinton matters because the private info relates to victims or subjects of the wiretaps.

Among possible victims of wiretaps or surveillance:

persons surveilled for Hillary's 2000 campaign;

the various Jane Does and friends;

Congressmen and Senators and staff of both parties being pressured (sucessfully or unsucessfully) to support or at least not oppose Clinton;

journalists covering Clinton;

witnesses in the Foster case;

and non-political govt. employees having responsibility for Clinton investigations.

The non-political govt. employees wiretapped by Bill&Hill Clintons' secret police might include:

Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) people investigating Madison Savings & Loan aspect of Whitewater,

Justice Dept (lower level people involved with the DNC-Teamster money laundering arrangement featuring Terry McAwful, Chicom money & related campaign finance violations, etc.),

law enforcement people such as FBI and Park Police involved with Foster investigation, and

persons working for Starr's office (not just professionals, might including office cleaning crew being pressurized to take files, plant bugs, etc.).

You are right and this is hugh and series. The Republicans need to jump on this like a duck on a junebug and sic the Justice Department on this and make it ALL public! If nothing else, Hannity should start looking into it and perhaps a few copies of this treasure trove could be leaked to him for maximum exposure!

the Justice Department on this and make it ALL public!

If only. The problem is that the subjects of the wiretaps all have a privacy interest in keeping their conversations private. In fact, publishing a transcript or sharing them with others (apart from law enforcement use) is probably a crime.

This is just a guess and a hope, but since the files are now in possession of the Government; Republicans, all interested conservative organizations, and all publications need to start filing FOIAs by the thousands to see what is in those files. There are any number of people and organizations who might have been investigated or intimidated by these investigations, and they have a right to know who was investigating them and a right to sue, and possibly request criminal prosecution of, the investigators and their employers.

I don't disagree. However if people have been illegally wiretapped, they are victims of a crime and law enforcement has a duty to tell them and let them make a decision on how to proceed. My wish is for a federal grand jury investigation and all indictments and prosecutions necessary to put a stop to this kind of nonsense for a LONG LONG time!

Right you are about telling victims.

The statute of limitations on some of the Clinton secret police transcripts, if any, may have run out.

Grand jury investigation should be conducted if some crimes are not too old to file charges, but the transcripts of the intercepts would remain secret unless and until a trial was held in which the intercepts were evidence. And even then, the judge might seal all or part of the transcripts.

Ideally, those who were bribed, blackmailed, threatened or intimidated would come forward and recount at least enough of the details that charges could be filed. However, many victims may not want to come forward.

Also, the Clintons' secret police would be exposed by Rather, Jennings, Brokaw, and . . . oh, never mind about the leftstream media, it won't happen.

There's an update on this story on a link on Drudge. Here's the link. Don't know if it deserves a thread or not. See what you think.

I don't think so, mewzilla, since there's not a single mention of the P.I.'s famous political client - Hillary Clinton.

Must have been an oversight on the part of the NYT's. /sarcasm
