This article by Hitchens was highlighted as a must read on Andrew Sullivan's blog. I tend to agree. Once again, Hitchens provides a compelling refutation of the counsels of appeasement and isolation offered by a craven, devious left and a historically ignorant paleocon right.
Comments, anyone?

Hitchens, though generally a socialist, is a very bright man who "gets it" that there is looming, or more correctly already existing in early stages, a duel a outrance between the West and its values, and Islam.

Excellent find. I particularly like this piece of his argument towards the peaceniks:
Those who murder the officials of the United Nations and the Red Cross, set fire to oil pipelines and blow up water mains, and shoot down respected clerics outside places of worship are indeed making our point for us. There is no justifiable way that a country as populous and important as Iraq can be left at the mercy of such people. Andhere is my cruxthere never was.

Excellent post. What's weird about Hitchens is that he's so alone on the left in recognizing the problem. All the other crap endorsed by the left, in general and especially the decadence, enrages the jihadis against the West.
