The Dave Clark 5 had a very black sound ("Bite and Pieces")similar to the RB's in some ways. (Singer was Mike Smith; despite the DC 5 clean-cut image, he was one of the ballsiest Brit singers of the era.) The DC 5s music is very hard to find now - Dave Clark, unlike most rock stars of the time, retained the rights to his own music.
