All dead now? Goodness1!Last month, there was that blues serial on PBS and the English blues segment, which I started watching a few minutes late, apparently had Eric Burdon on it. I saw him, didn't recognized him (they identified the interviewees only during the first screen appearance, which in his case I missed) and wondered throughout who the guy was until the trailing credits. Even then he didn't seem familiar.

I went to college in New Orleans in the mid-60s. Every time I hear that song I think of the Big Easy....

Unchained Melody I think I have a Gene Vincent version (1950s) floating around.

Burdon, Valentine, Price, Steel, and Jenkins are all still alive. As for Burdon, I saw him a few times in recent years and was disappointed. He's turned into a song-stylist, crooner-type, who over-interprets the material, e.g., "Baby" becomes "Bay - bay - be - uh" and so forth. His original strength was his sincerity, timing, crisp delivery, economy of words, and unbelievable howl. Plus a great stage presence - great eyes. Most of that's gone now . . . but he had his day.

I have tickets for a Simon and Garfunkel concert next month. The tour has had good reviews. Has anybody here seen one of the concerts?

he is the one who sang Unchained Melody right ?? Yes, I believe Bill Medley sat that one out, but it's the most covered song in history, though I think their version is the definitive one. Unchained Melody was originally part of a movie score. I believe the movie was named Unchained.

Simon and Garfulkle are opening or practicing their tour I think in Reading, PA. About 1.5 hours from here.
I saw Paul Simon do his gig at Hershey a year or two ago. Was outstanding.
