This is a follow up to a story that Fox Reporter Carol McKinley broke two weeks ago. I had the pleasure of speaking with Ms McKinley a little bit about this story, while following up on it for another website. During our converstation she revealed the presence of said e-mail to me. I am glad she was able to do this follow up which you may have seen last night on the Fox Report with Shepard Smith. If the Eagle County Sheriff's Department isn't the most racist department in the country they sure are the dumbest, and the DA's participation is inexcusable.
Among other things (such as extremely poor judgement) I think it demonstrates complete lack of understanding or sensitivity concerning the history of lynchings in the United States on the part of those involved.

What's the big deal? Since when is the DA's office supposed to be unbiased? They want a
conviction, right? The prosecution wants a conviction, the defense wants acquittal, and the judge wants justice.
Am I missing something here?

Eagle County Sheriff Joe Hoy told Fox News that he wouldn't care if his employees did order the shirts, adding that he could not dictate what they wore off-duty. Of course, sheriff deputies are allowed to wear anything they want.
On the other hand, what about using a sheriff office computer to order controversial T-shirts?
What about organizing the whole body of sheriff deputies to obtain controversial shirts?
Can the sheriff deputies claim they are not biased when handling evidence for this case?
Is it OK to use their work time to order controversial T-shirts?

Since when is the DA's office supposed to be unbiased? They want a conviction, right? Wrong. The DA is supposed to seek justice and maintain neutrality. Unfortunately, in recent years DAs have evolved a win-at-all-costs philosophy that has eroded their ethics.

I wonder if this will have any effect if a change of venue motion is brought?

This is setting up moving the case to a neutral town like downtown Denver, Co. Are these Tee shirts for the jury?

Disgusting. I am assuming you are talking about Kobe's behavior?
Kobe bends a stranger over and rapes or has very voilent sex (blood splatter on his shirt) from behind and then forces her to kiss his bloody penis in an effort to humiliate her.
He doesn't use a condom and endangers (possibly passes a death sentence) his wife with the possibility of AIDS or at the very least an STD, he lied to the police, lied to his wife, even lied to his team about why he was in Colorado.
When he is done abusing/raping this girl he calls his wife on the phone and tells her how much he loves her. The cops are only human and know that his lying scumbag for a lawyer will get him off no matter how guilty he is. They also are privey to a lot more information then we are and I suspect that will be presented in the courts. I can't blame them for wearing the shirts.

This is setting up moving the case to a neutral town like downtown Denver, Co. Are these Tee shirts for the jury? Exactly, while I think this whole prosecution is probably a railroad job on Mr. Bryant, the police are only suppose to arrest people THEY THINK ARE GUILTY. The prosecutor is only suppose to prosecute people THEY THINK ARE GUILTY.
Now if the Judge were to buy one or the court staff or the court staff were to hand them out to the jury, then we would have a story.

Unfortunately, in recent years DAs have evolved a win-at-all-costs philosophy that has eroded their ethics. For some reason the job of prosecutor seems to have a particular attraction for immoral careerists who only care about their conviction percentage and the next election and are not bothered by injustice. A few of these people would probably be quite at home on the other side of the law.
