Good article. At no point this year, no matter how hard the media hit him, did I ever consider President Bush anything other than the favorite in '04.
I'm not guaranteeing a win; I just like his odds.

Maybe conservatives should consider providing a primary opponent to Bush. Bush has really left the reservation on domestic spending, and that could ultimately undermine the economy after the election, leading to Democrat triumph in 2006 and 2008. We can play the role of loyal opposition rather than spoiler and get the message to the Rove 'strategerists' that they need to think beyond winning the next election.

Taking absolutely nothing away from the man, he really has no competition...
Did anyone see the "Rock the Vote" fiasco last night? I only saw some clips... priceless.
The odds are definitely in our favor. AND I think Bush is doing as good a job as can be expected. We're in some seriously tough times.
To: nuffsenuff
I personally think Joe Lieberman could give Bush a run. Maybe even
Dick Gephardt, just 'cause of his access to union resources.
But it looks like the Dems may not be smart enough to give either of them a shot.

True. After watching those light-weights last night, there is no way any of them could defeat Bush, barring any disasters in the WoT or the economy. They were so bad last night - is this the best the Democratic Party has to offer? If so they really are finished as a national party.

They are shooting themselves in the foot.
Part of me enjoys it. Part of me is leary of having anyone party have too much power... even if its mine.

Maybe conservatives should consider providing a primary opponent to Bush... We can play the role of loyal opposition rather than spoiler The problem is it would be playing spoiler. No modern-day incumbent president who has faced a serious primary challenge from his own party has survived to be re-elected.

Part of me is leary of having anyone party have too much power... even if its mine. <p.I'm with you. But there's really no choice right now. The Democrats have chosen an anti-American agenda time and time again. They must be punished. The D party will make a comeback, or uts place will be taken by a legitimate third party. This stuff goes in cycles.

Good chances at picking up GA, SC, NC, FL, with varying shots at NV, SD, WA, WI, AR and LA if Breaux retires. The GOP will probably lose IL, maybe AK, and the Dems have longer shots at capturing PA and OK.
The GOP could defeat Schumer in NY, but only if Rudy G. ran. And he's not biting.

To: Coop
Me too, although I fear complacency on the part of Republicans and conservatives. Did you see that shameful cave by Pat Roberts in the Senate today? I sure hope the Republican grassroots shows more spine next year when it comes time to campaign for the President's reelection.
