Slavery is alive and well in the Mohammedan world, especially in Saudi.

That's disgusting.
Modern Saudi Arabia are founded by a bunch of Clintonian ( vile, despicable), primitive Wahhabi neanderthals. Their scum has spreaded all over the world, trying to supplant itself as the true Islam.
I don't think my friends have any slaves, I should go ask her...

I live in the Washington DC area. My father used to work with diplomats. Embassies and diplomats work under a different set of rules and laws than the rest of us.... No one checks (or can check) on the hiring polies of embassies (or official diplomats) and its quite possible, even probable, IMHO, that a few of the most extreme, backward Islamist countries' (ie. Saudi or Sudan) embassies and diplomats have slaves.... right here in America.
It wouldn't be hard....find uneducated women from their own country (or the poor hireling countries like India or Sri Lanca mentioned in the ad), who spoke no English, tell them that they will be tortured or killed,if they try to run away, or hold relatives as slaves back in the home country--- keep them indoors under supervision and control and wham, easy to have house "servants" who are really slaves. Actually, I'm almost certain such happens, right under our noses.
I've known aupairs (girls here to care for children, generally from Europe or South Africa) whose working conditions were almost slave-like...and these were educated girls who knew English. Take some 3rd world types, who are cowed into slavery back in the home country...do a little paperwork, calling them family members or etc. and voila, a Saudi Prince has his house slaves from home working for him here.

Slavery was alledgedly outlawed in Wahhabbi Arabia in 1962. The reason it took so long for the US and Wahhabbi Arabia to exchange ambassadors is because the Wahhabbis were afraid our diplomats would attempt to free slaves.

As much as I despise Saudi Arabia, I should point out that this is just an ad about a guy trying to exchange a car for a servant. I have an Arabic lingust on my team who looked at the ad, and he says that word for servant they use is the common term one would use for a maid.
Saudi Arabia imports a lot of servants who come over from SE Asia for a set period of time on a contractual basis. An old car may be of equal value to a servant who is still early into her contract. A terms of servitude in Saudi may be unpleasant, but it is voluntary. We're deployed in SE Asia at the moment, and I've seen posters up offering domestic help job contracts in the Middle East.
Anyway, neither of us are any more friendly to Islam than is legally required, to put it gently, but this appears to be a simple mistranslation. Just FYI.

I have no proof or intimate knowlege. Just conjecture. It seems very likely though.
Embassies such as Saudi Arabia have hundreds of people working for them....and the diplomats from such countries (usually princes) are arrogant to the extreme. I'd almost be surprised if for a few of their employees--particularly low-status, domestic servants--slavery wasn't the case.
Every now and then a diplomat causes a horendous traffic accident--and such can cause an international incident. A Belerus official was forced out of the country after killing a woman while driving dead drunk. It was a big deal, but it actually took a quite a while. The guy had a long history of drunkenness....but it was at least 6 months after the accident that he was finally forced home (no charges...) after they threatened to remove his immunity and charge him.
It was a cut and dried case, with many previous DWIs...Had he been American he'd still be in jail now serving a manslaughter sentence.
The reason we treat other's diplomats with kid gloves is because brutish countries would harrass our diplomats in their countries if we applied the law normally to their diplomats here. Diplomatic immunity is all about protecting Americans overseas....even though its at the expense of us here.
If we don't want the Saudis to bust into American diplomats' homes in Saudi Arabia confiscating bibles or breaking up Christian prayer (as they gladly do to their own people) I don't think there is much we can do to prevent their diplomats from doing what they want behind closed doors here.
It's a sad, sad world.
