Sean Hannity has a scoop on dem party corruption (Vanity)
Sean Hannity radio show ^ | 11/04/03 | Unknown Democrat (via Sean Hannity)

Posted on 11/04/2003 1:27:18 PM PST by jocon307

Is anyone listening to Hannity? He just read a memo from a dem party staffer (i think) on the select committe on intelligence (or some such), which, as he describes it, shows the the dem committe members are pre-planning a political assault on the pres. and care nothing for our security, which is their job.

He's acting like this is the hottest scoop since I don't know what, I'm at work so I'm only 1/2 listening, plus he read the whole thing which seemed to be a least 2 pages long, a little tough to follow being in beaurocrat-speak.

Is this really important? And will this story grow legs?

What am I missing? I dont' see anything in this report about using classified information.

The memo spells out how the 'rats plan to use the Senate Intelligence Committee as a tool to try to destroy the President of the United States.

It's damned incriminating.

Unless there's a lot more to this memo than is posted here,

I'll repeat what I wrote above to another poster. The big deal is that the democrats have admitted, in writing, that they have a plot to use the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence as a tool with which to destroy the President of the United States.

Yeah, along with those on FR that think "there is nothing here, let's just move along".

Cynicism and pessimism makes some people think they are smart, but they are a poor sustitute for logic.

I have a hunch that the memo came from Rockefeller -- the Uriah Heep of the Senate. Jay Baby has been a closet radical since his days at Phillips Exeter, and his personal hatred for Republicans probably exceeds that of Patrick Leahy himself. He is a humorless, friendless, nasty piece of goods who would walk the knife-edge of treachery if it were to suit his political purpose.

You're all missing something VERY VERY significant here! Look at these parts: "The approach outlined above seems to offer the best prospect for exposing the administration's dubious motives." "Yet we have an important role to play in revealing the misleading, if not flagrantly dishonest, methods and motives " The Dems on the Senate Intel Committee, EVEN AMONG THEMSELVES, are not willing to say that "Bush Lied"!!! They say misleading, they say dubious, they DISAVOW dishonest! And these are the same people who, as noted in this very memo, got the Niger story turned into the big deal that it was! This completely blows away the "Bush Lied" meme that tries to convey that Bush was in fact "flagrantly dishonest"! Not even the Democrats who had the most access to the information are willing to call it -lying-. Qwinn

Great news! I would love to see democrats held accountable by the media. If the media smells a hot story, they'll (some of them anyway) will throw their partisanship aside for another day and go for the jugular.

Yes this memo is difficult to read, but let me help translate one paragraph for you:

"1) Pull the majority along as far as we can on issues that may lead to major new disclosures
(snip)
B) Once we identify solid leads the majority does not want to pursue, we would attract more coverage and have greater credibility in that context than one in which we simply launch an independent investigation based on principled but vague notions regarding the use of intelligence."

Translation: The democrat members of the Senate intelligence committee will coerce the Republican members into going along with them on as many 'inconsistencies' as possible. However, they will care less about the issues over which the Republicans cooperate than the items that the Republicans want to downplay. Once the Dems know which issues the Republican members will not readily pursue, those are the items they will pounce on.

BTW, they are using a criminal interrogation technique to ferret out the really "juicy" items.

You've been a member since yesterday. And NO, we are not on the same side as you try to spin the democrat's treachery into something innocent. Nice try though ...

This memo is gross abuse of power by the Dems on the Intelligence Committee. They admit several things:

(1) they have no direct information that the Bush administration lied about anything;

(2) they will misprepresent their motives to the Republican members of the Committee;

(3) they would pretend to investigate intelligence failures when they are in fact digging for dirt on Bush;

(4) they will claim the investigations are incomplete no matter what the findings.

This story needs to gain some traction. The committee exists solely as oversight for intelligence organizations. What they are talking about has nothing to do with intel. The committee has a limited amount of time and resources to perform a very important job. The Dems was to spend it on a witchhunt.
