Just a guess here.  Are you one of those people that feel catching a number of traffickers equal to the number of innocent children murdered as a result of this "War on Drugs" is a fair trade-off?

No one, not the government, not the cop on the street, not you or I can stop people from abusing substances.  The current course of action has only driven it into the murkier depths of depravity.

I stand corrected.  By drug traffickers I mean those much higher up in the drug culture, the so-called drug lords.  These folks I wouldn't trust whatever the circumstances.

On this I would agree. The higher up the pyramid you get, the more you start to get into the dangerous organized crime types who hardly ever seem to get caught.

We keep hearing about the drug lords. Where are they? Who are they? I have never seen one. No one I know has ever seen one.

I liked alcohol prohibition better than drug prohibition. At least the alcohol lords were visible, and much more entertaining.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to find many have high positions within our society.  Some may even hold positions of trust within the government.

As a person that uses neither crack, alcohol, or other substances, I see the usage of crack and alcohol as identical. I have no tolerance for beer drinkers (the worst of the worst IMO), little tolerance for wine drinkers, and little for people that any such substances. They are all the same to me.

Unfortunately, alcohol, the most widely used date rape drug ever known is promoted by the government, media, and Hollywood. No other substance has led to more deaths and injuries in society than alcohol. Alcohol is involved in more crimes of violence, poor judgments, and destroyed more lives than all the other drugs, legal and illegal, combined.

Still, if we're going to allow alcohol, the worst substance of the batch, why not the others? People just turn their heads to alcohol abuse because it is a legal substance. That's hypocritical!

Why do you ask?  Because I don't abuse any substances?

I don't use any drugs, including alcohol.  I don't like the "Drug War".  I don't like government spending tax dollars on a program that has wrought more harm than good.  I don't believe the government can protect me better than I can protect myself.  I don't like all the crime the Drug War has perpetuated.

Face it, you really like BIG government.  You seem to believe a governments purpose is to protect people from themselves.  Are you afraid you yourself might become a user if such substances were legalized?

I have had MS for 5 yrs now. They(the doctors)have prescribed shots (from everyday to every other day), steroids(enough to make a body builder nervous), vitamins, and muscle relaxers (valium...darvon...etc) and still the muscle spasms were so intense I couldn't get more than a couple hours sleep at a time, which made the spasms worse. I was fast on the way to a wheelchair when a friend came by and wanted to smoke a little weed with me. I thought "what the h*ll" and I took a couple of drags off of the joint. My muscles began to relax and 2 or 3 minutes after my friend left I was sound asleep. I began to smoke right before I went to sleep every night. I quit taking the valium and the steroids and still I felt better. I told my Dr about my response to marijuana. He told me that , while he couldn't condone the use of a illegal "drug" , he thought I should do what ever helps me the most. After that long story my view is, I think if it's helping him at all and he's not selling it to children on the street corner we should just leave him alone.
