Thomson (RCA), Chinese firm join forces

CARMEL, Ind. -- About 200 of the dwindling number of Thomson employees in suburban Indianapolis would work for the company's new joint venture with a Chinese television giant.

Thomson's French parent company, Thomson SA, and TCL International Holdings Ltd. announced plans today to create a joint venture that they hope will eventually become the world's largest manufacturer of television sets.

Also, General Cable announcing a feasibility study to decide if they will shut down. (200 jobs) Plus, Bell Packaging announcing they will move production, but haven't decided where they will locate yet. (170 jobs)

Marion is a little rust belt with no economic leadership. Maybe elections today will change our outlook. We can only hope.
