TWIN ROCKS, Pa. -- Wild boars continue to wreak havoc on residential property and game land two years after game commission officials believe the animals began escaping from a private preserve in Western Pennsylvania.
Game commission officials have said they now have proof the wild boars are coming from Big Mike's Hunting and Fishing Preserve in Blacklick, Cambria County. A car recently struck a nearly 350-pound boar marked with an ear tag, and another was discovered during a check of a butchering shop.

Gin Flamed Wild Boar Steaks
Serves 4
Ingredients
4 wild boar loin steaks
75mls gin
orange, rowan jelly
juniper berries
salt & pepper
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Method
Slice the steaks and beat them so that they are thin. Then sprinkle with a few crushed juniper berries, salt & pepper. Fry them quickly in the oil and lay them in a dish garnished with paper thin slices of orange, brush a little rowan jelly over the steaks. Detach the glaze from the flying pan with a little water. Gently warm the gin in a large ladle or a small pan and then ignite. Pour it over the pan juices and give them a gentle stir, then tip the whole flaming lot over the steaks. It is important to warm the alcohol and carry out the igniting episode as swiftly as possible so that the alcohol has not evaporated before it has had chance to burn.

Nevermind...I thought this was about Hillary.

Another suggestion:
Marinate in (cheap) red wine for 48 hours, then cook as you would a pot roast, using blueberry juice and apples.
Then make a pig of yourself.

. . . there is little regulation over such nonnative species, which means people can hunt the animals without permits. Hmmm . . . Very interesting. If there were any justice in the world, this principle would apply to socialists, too.

How timely. The other day I was channel surfing and came across a hunting show on ESPN2, just in time to see the fellows take out a wild boar. I wondered how they were going to cook it!

This reminds me of the feral geese in my community. A few years ago someone released a dozen adults near a local bay. They started reproducing like crazy, until you could hardly go there without seeing dozens of big old white farm geese. Folks were always feeding them, and they managed to drive off the other local birds that people used to feed.
Then, one December, they just all disappeared. It turned out that a local (and legal) Filipino family had systematically trapped every last one of the geese for their Christmas feast (the whole filipino community attends).
Outrage! But then the Fish and Game folks were quoted in the paper as saying that these were escaped farm animals and not under their jurisdiction. Indeed, they were interfering with the local wildlife and plans had been made for them to all be trapped and removed.
Nice Christmas feast!

Hi Willie,
How far is this from Milford / Dingmans's Ferry? Also, do you know anything about the local wildlife in Milford/Dingmans? Any info anybody has would be great!!!!
Thank you,

but also from potentially irresponsible hunters who try to shoot the animals. So why don't the terrified little mice go hunt them themselves, with spears?
All you have to do is plant the butt of the spear in the ground, lower the blade down, and then when the boar charges you you jerk the tip up right at the last second and he impales himself on it. So where's the problem?
(I hear the boars have moved into town in parts of Germany... Wasn't there a posting on here about that a few weeks ago)

How far is this from Milford / Dingmans's Ferry?I'm afraid you're on the other side of the state.
The boars are some 275 miles west of Milford / Dingmans Ferry.
You're question threw me a bit of a curveball since I'm not very familiar with the eastern part of the state. Your "Milford" is in Pike County. There's another "Milford" in Somerset County that I'm more familiar with. It's only about 60 miles south of where the boars are.
