Regardless, the church had set new rules which
are against the word and in enforcing them
sacrificed compassion to the ill of health.
As regards my own potential onset of diabetes,
I believe refined sugars (the cocaine of the massive
masses) is a far greater threat to my health than an herb.
Thank you for your concern.

No quantities of sugars, noodles, sodas or breads.
That is what you have to do to stay healthier along with exercise.
When people are sick though, the church has places to sit and Eucharistic ministers will come to the seat.
You can't expect to take a spot set aside for Servers. Your dad meant well, but there were at least 4 other alternatives that are in a church for people with limited movement like you dad.
My mom died of breast cancer a few years back, and up until her death she still served the Church. She visited men in prisons (they had drug addiction problems). She would also go to the homes of the sick to give the host to home ridden people.
You dad never had to be without unless he was stubborn, which is not all that untypical for older folks by the way.
My mom helped start a half-way home for men out of prison. Drug addiction is a big issue among them all, so when you talk about the innocence of a little pot or it being some blessed herb, you come across to me as silly and dangerous.
We should look to become better, not medicated or drunk for that matter.
