[history]
Ken Duffus hasn't worked for the city of Anchorage since 1996. But Duffus, a builder and condo developer, is still drawing his city engineer's salary of $66,456 a year.
He was fired from his city job three times, according to filings in a lawsuit he brought against the city. Each time, he protested through his union and, on paper at least, won his job back.

Yet another example of inept public officials and a too-powerful government employees union.

Hey, I can do that job for 1/2 that amount! And, I'd show up once a week! Well, I would if it were in Tennessee rather than Anchorage, Alaska. That's a bit of a commute.

And at the same time the very new democrat mayor of Anchorage is trying to ram rod a tax increase by threat of laying off fire fighters. Same old collectivist ploy, threaten to lay off essential services unless you pay more taxes but continue to slather on the pork to the teat suckers. This guy has been in office for only a few months after a questionable election. To think I moved here from kalifornia to escape the marxists.

Thanks for the post
Just a side note, this next Tuesday is a special election (cost 100K+) to vote on increasing taxes - 'cause the Muni hasn't enough to go around.....except in existing accounts they have over $200Million "in case of a rainy day"
Care to bet on the outcome? Care to guess the party of the new mayor?
