According to this page Vermont's electric costs are double the costs in the south and west. The costs are even higher than in California. The IBM Burlington plant spends about $60m per annum on power.

ENOUGH with the corporate welfare already!

IBM has enough money - let them pay their own d@mb power bills.

They should hurry and raise IBM's rates to subsidize the other rate payers before IBM's inevitable move to India...

Waaaa. If it was a private electric power company making a decision to hold on to a customer by giving that customer a lower rate, would you call it 'Corprate welfare' and complain about how other customers are subsidizing them? I hope not. That is the decision being made in Vermont, only because it is a public agency making it, people even here on FR think they can get on their high horse and scream about corporate welfare. A class warfare liberal by any other name...
