here in northeast Louisiana there were and still are panthers ... black panthers.. the kind that isn't supposed to exist...i have heard the scream many times.
they would kill livestock from time to time, but back then it was open range and hogs and cows were plentiful and easy pickings.
the "experts" can say that black panthers don't exist but i have seen them more than once running across the road.

Hell, you don't have to go "down under" to find "big cats! Come to Kansas City!
It seems that there were a number of rumors about mountain lions in the KC area, but they were all said to be nothing more than rumors, never mind that there were photos and tracks... Nothing to see here, move along. Until a while back when a car swerved to miss a deer running across I-435, and wound up hitting and killing a mountain lion! This was not in some out of the way place, either. It's in the vicinity of "The Northland," near the Worlds of Fun amusement park! There have been other sightings since.
