She was enrolled in an online charter school sponsored by the State of Hawaii that extends from Grades 1 to 12. A number of kids with professional surfing aspirations are enrolled here, in addition to the ones that are disgusted with the public schools here.

Cool, if the attack doesn't let her have a career surfing, at least she won't have had her brain all mushed up in the indoctrination centers.

Bring lots of money - as you are now aware, the cost of everyday goods is about 30% higher than the mainland. Also, real estate is very expensive (although perhaps not as much as some areas of CA). The best real estate prices to be found in Hawaii are on the Big Island at this time. You do have an advantage with your kids in college. We have a 16 year old who is attending boarding school on the Big Island because the only private high school on the North Shore, Kula, is academically marginal and has drug/alcohol problems. Also, our son plays football, basketball and baseball and the private schools here don't have any real athletic programs.

If Fox News Channel spent 1 minute per hour covering what each American (on average) pays a year into Social Security and the returns versus what would happen if that same SS amount were invested in mutual funds or stocks for every hour of Scott/Laci Peterson coverage they do then we'd have a freaking REVOLUTION in this country. Money is news, Scott and Laci are no longer news, at least not to this degree.

Her brother was interviewed on Fox News Sat nite and said she was in good spirits and intends to pursue surfing. She also said that she was 'glad this happened so she could tell the whole world about Jesus Christ'. Now THAT's a positive attitude and a winning spirit!! You go girl and may God bless!

She also said that she was 'glad this happened so she could tell the whole world about Jesus Christ'. Now THAT's a positive attitude and a winning spirit!! She's gonna need that spirt to deal with the looney left in the media when they find out about her platform. I'm not much of a religious person, but the bashing that the media has been dishing out to just about all but Islam, highly offends me. I'd love to see her give them all a headache and black-eye. ;-)

This kid is "on fire" for Christ!
makes me even more sad, that her career as a pro surfer could suffer a set back...
makes me feel ashamed about my own wordly ways, as such a young "star" is focused on the eternal picture!

I bet the President would even invite her to the White House to celebrate his Ramadan Iftar Dinner.

I bet the President would even invite her to the White House to celebrate his Ramadan Iftar Dinner. While I can come up with plenty of reasons to bash Pres. Bush including his cozying to the 'Religion of Peace', I have a feeling that Miss Hamilton will get her chance to meet with him sometime in the relatively near future.

Heard an interview yesterday with a witness to this who said there were several sharks out there but the surfers still go out. Said it's not unusual.

Didn't you ever see Blue Crush? Everybody surfs before school or work.

Didn't you ever see Blue Crush? Everybody surfs before school or work.Nah, but here in Jersey, by the time school starts, most of the younger surfing set has hung-up their boards for the season. That is fine with me since I don't have to worry about snagging one with a big treble hook and having to reel in an angry person. ;-)

You can struggle anywhere in life....or you can struggle in Kauai.

The third day on a new job, I took the day off (with my boss) to go surf. I kid you not.

The story said that she was homeschooled so she could be available to compete.
