Is this Monday-morning quarterbacking spurred by the wildfires now raging in California? Hardly.

The Northern California congressman uttered those words in August 1994 as part of his demand that Congress declare a state of emergency in federal forests to permit quick removal of dead trees, fallen branches and other debris that fuels wildfires - like those that burned 3 million Western acres and killed 14 firefighters that year.

I'm about 15 miles from Simi and it was very quiet all week. Just Thursday, things appeared to be getting back to normal. Although we thought we were safe from the smoke, we were breathing it all week, so most people in the area tried to stay inside. Boxer and Feinstein are a day late and a dollar short and need to be taken to task for this.

Probably the only way they might agree to this sort of management is if only government employees (aka government environmentalists) cut the trees and then disposed of them without profit or commercial uses. Of course, these programs would cost billions of tax dollars but would employ many thousands of tree-hugging college graduates.

To let commercial loggers do it and make a dime for their trouble? Fuggettaboudit!

The polititions will never do anything! Period! The USFS and a lot of state forestry depts have been infiltrated with enviro nazis and one would have to clean out the whole nest to overhaul the system. Why do you think they hesitate to start fighting these fires? Because they are of the burn crowd..I.E. Bruce Babbit bunch.

...Absolutely stunning. I just hope these morons' homes weren't threatend by any of the fires last week. I'm also glad to report that the Senate, including CALIFORNIA'S two Senators-yes, shocking,isn't it?!-actually voted to pass the aboved proposed measure the night before last. Who was it that said even a blind squirrel finds an acorn? But I'm quite certain Barbara Boxer's Enviro-Nut pals, including the NRDC are none too pleased with her vote.

If I lost a home in the fire I'd be thinking about a class-action suit against any and all enviro groups that sued to keep the forests from being cleaned up. They're the ones that created the hazardous situation that resulted in the tragic loss of life and property. Defunding the left is the only way to get them under control.

Doing a search today on Greenpeace and enviromental terrorism and came upon this Canadian site. I havn't seen anything so blatently anti US and Bush even on some hard core left wing sites but this is supposed to be for all stripes.

This was the part that really got my concern. Yet, we will not hear of any of this will we? Since the eco-freaks think that fire is a good thing, they dont want their friends the LA Times et al to let this out.
