MEDIA Survey sorts truth from fiction in news (Fox News Viewers Slandered by St Louis Post)
St Louis Post ^ | 10/29/03 | Eric Mink

Where you get your information can make a huge difference, especially if it's Fox News.

Prissy critics (including me) and competitors choking on the juice of sour grapes have long mocked the audacious sloganeering of Fox News Channel. "Fair and balanced," and "We report, you decide," dupe the public by winking at the channel's gleefully conservative tilt, say the cranks.

Mr Mink starts with a conclusion (Fox viewers are idiots), then finds facts to support his conclusions. The questions selected and the obvious bias of the groups polled (NPR ve Fox) is laughable.

Since the Iraq war ended, the United States has found evidence that Saddam Hussein was working closely with al-Qaida.

I dunno. Uday Hussein's own published praise for Iraq's official liaison with al Qaeda seems pretty convincing to me. Maybe this guy needs to watch more Fox News.

Eric Mink should get a grip.

Generally speaking, interested, knowledgeable people watch a variety of news and draw their own conclusions.

It is unfortunate for the liberals, that most watch FNC more.

I wonder why?

Some years ago I grew weary of Dan Rather,Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw telling me what I had just viewed.

The same people seem to be controlling sports broadcasting.

They too, feel they must tell you what you have just seen and heard.

What kind of a man calls himself "prissy?"

(No need to answer.)

Uday Hussein's own published praise for Iraq's official liaison with al Qaeda seems pretty convincing to me.

That's the problem--the level of convincing certain people need. The folks that say that Sadda & Co. were not involved with Al Queda are the same ones that find no convincing evidence of Soviet spying in the Venona files. Personally, all I needed to convince me of the Saddam-AQ tie was the Salman Pak discovery.

This "Fox News is feeding you B.S." story is making the rounds in the lefty circles. The local 'alternative' newspaper had a similar story last week and used all the usual suspect "credible sources" to make their claims.

Finance (82) Furniture (64)

Hey, I watch Fox and I totally disagree with those "Furniture" numbers. See, I don't believe everything on Fox. I don't even understand some of it.

Ever try to read a newspaper story in the US? - you are damn lucky if you ever:

A. Get all the facts
B. Avoid a predefined and very obvious bias
C. Are not purposely mislead about one of the key issues

Fox may not always be right, but the way they try makes me a whole lot damn more comfortable with being able to make decisions for myself. This article was self-serving pabulum at best.

"Mr Mink starts with a conclusion (Fox viewers are idiots),..."

Jay Leno got on this bandwagon a couple of nights ago as well. He dragged out a pumpkin with only one tooth and declared that "This must be a Fox News viewer." Or words to that effect.

You have to admit that Fox Newa is not so much of a news organization as the sort of public relations arm of the Republican Party.

I mean that's why we Freepers like it.

Every knock is a boost for FOX. Wonder if Ailes is behind this leftist FOX trashing. Ailes is quite foxy that way. What the leftist media people need to comprehend is that if FOX went away, the staunch Fox supporters would certainly not switch to the other networks. They are gone as far as many of us are cocerned.

It's not only laughable, it's profitable for Fox News Network. The more these idiot liberal low life beat up on Fox News Network, the more people tune in. The nine Democrat scum that are running for President are doing an outstanding job in showing the American people what morons and traitors they are. A good number of American people know that Bill Clinton and his Democrat "traitor" Party caused 911 and more are learning of it every day! A vote for a Democrat is a vote hastening your own and your children's death! Fox Rules!

Watch want you want . . . . right?

I guess these liberal school systems must be turning out too many dummies to keep an organization such as FOX and conservative radio...BY FAR NUMBER 1!

Is this genius suggesting I renew my subscription to the LA TIMES....!

So THAT'S what happened to Eric Mink after he got tossed out of the New York Daily News; he ended up in dumpy old St. Louis.

TV critics are like the entertainment equivalent of the old adage "Those who can, do; those who can't, teach."

"Fair and balanced," and "We report, you decide," dupe the public by winking at the channel's gleefully conservative tilt"

What I find amusing is that the author rails in contempt at the idea that media should have ANY tilt, when the overwhelming majority have such an extreme leftist tilt it astonishing. Are these people idiots or just hypocrites? These great "champions of free speech" absolutely cannot stand for conservatives to have ANY voice at all in the public arena.
