The President left Columbus, Ohio (just thought I'd mention that again....) yesterday for a fundraiser in San Antonio, Texas, and from there went to Crawford, Texas and Prairie Chapel Ranch, where First Lady Laura was waiting for him. Yesterday, the biggest surge in economic growth (7.2%) in 19 years was announced, and today the House of Representatives passed the $87.5 billion Iraq/Afghanistan package, with grants and not loans, as the President wanted, which the Senate is expected to pass on Monday. Good news for our stellar President! Rather than going immediately back to Washington, the President is traveling to California on Tuesday.
There are no new pictures from today, but a few nice leftovers from yesterday. Apparently the President is enjoying some of that quality time at the ranch with Laura that he talked about yesterday...........Enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

"Attended a Bush Campaign meeting on Wednesday night and EVERYONE is fired up! It's going to be a great campaign. Lots of work to do but many eager beavers and lots of young people too! It was very exciting."
AWESOME -- we need California in '04! [We also need to energize and focus the 'youth' vote -- sounds like you Californians are doing it right!!!!!!!]

looks like it's about over here...I have tons of candy left..I thought we would have a lot of trick or treaters since it was Friday. We're building a house on Lake James, NC; and have been living in an apartment complex. We had zero knocks on the door. I went out and knocked on our neighbor's doors and the kids flocked to grab handfulls of our candy. I sense that many are afraid to send their kids out on Holloween. I called our kids (22 & 25) and they told us (MMOM & Dad) that people are scared to allow their children out on the streets these days. It's a pathetic time that we live in. I hope that times will change back to when I grew up in the 1950's.

We only had about 20 trick-or-treaters. I think that the decline is because our neighborhood has gotten older. Lots of people our age have grown children, rather than grade school age kids.
However, many of the houses are up for sale, and I imagine that the neighborhood will be changing to a younger demographic in a few years.
Meanwhile, what am I to do with all of these Reese's Peanut Butter Cups?

These wonderful pictures are our candy! Thank you so much. Mega dittos!
And, now I have to answer the door.... ;^)
To: Cobra64
We had 87 trick-or-treaters tonight already and will probably get over the 100 mark... My kids are out and about still in a group of six of them, aged 7-10, I'm not concerned, I guess it all depends where you live...

I grew up in the 50's too...we took pillowcases for our candy and were gone til 9 or 10 pm...ate all the homemade treats too....we had two houses down the street who made candy apples while you waited..the other house had hot doughnuts, cocoa and carmel popcorn....those days are gone forever.

. . . Interesting article from George Stephanopoulos:
EXCERPT:
"It looks like we are coming out of the recession," Stephanopoulos said. "Wages are starting to go up. Productivity is starting to go up. Generally if you look at polls across the country people respect President Bush even when people don't agree with his policies. He has an amazingly strong hold on the Republican party. He's not going to have a primary opponent. I think when you add all that up it puts President Bush in a very strong position going into the next election."

I've been away for a few weeks - down in NC, and this week, I've been glued to the Fire Threads for So.Cal. My brother lives in San Diego, and he and his family are now safe, and their home survived, thank God.
I have been keeping tabs on our beloved President through the Dose. What in the world would I do without FreeRepublic and the fabulous Freepers and Dosers?
I'm just feeling incredibly blessed tonight that my family is safe, and GWB is my President.
The bad news, is that we have had many less Trick or Treaters tonight than I thought - and I have TONS of candy left over. Oh no, I haven't had candy in ages, because I've been faithful to South Beach diet. HELP !!!!!!!! LOL

Meanwhile, what am I to do with all of these Reese's Peanut Butter Cups?Shake em up with some vodka, and voila, a Peanut Butter Martini. After 5 or 6 they taste great.
