I've come to the conclusion over the past few weeks that we don't have enough manpower on the ground for an effective occupation.

you could have 10 times the forces, if none of them have orders to shoot the rock throwers on sight, it won't matter.

I wish we could have a calm rational discussion on this board about this whole Iraq situation without being called anti-American or some symp for liberal Dems.
Seems to me that MANY Iraquis hate our guts.We did free them from an oppressive dictator and THIS is the thanks we get? Please, this madness is absurd.I know some will say its Baathist remnants and Al Queida infiltrators but what are we to think when crowds of"ordinary"Iraquis gather at scenes of burned out American vehicles where our soldiers have been killed and maimed and these bastards start CHEERING?
I am NOT a liberal or sympathetic in any way toward creep groups with socialist agendas like ANSWER but my guts tell me that the Bush adminstration seriously underestimated the amount of anti-American sentiment in Iraq and I am afraid this could hurt us for many years to come in both money and manpower.

This is apparently anti-occupation sentiment that boiled over, regrettably, into violence.

The Baathist remnants and Al Qaida infiltrators are the ones doing the car bombs and organized attacks.

The Iraqis hate Saddam worst of all and by and large will help to eradicate the insurgency violence.

We are doing this for our own security. History shows gratitude never consistently follows occupation. We are learning that Iraqis and virtually all Arabs have many delusions about how the world works; that is part of the reason they do not respond how we might expect.

Truth has a way of coming through in a land of free people. It is a long haul for freedom to take hold.

I reread the article. I don't understand what is the source: My Way News?

Waving signs of Saddam makes me highly suspicious either of the source, or if it is true, then they are paid demonstrators.

Whatever the truth of this report, we know there is plenty of anti-occupation sentiment. Nevertheless, we will continue to do the groundwork for a free Iraq.

Maybe it isn't so absurd. Think about it. Here in America, in your own town maybe, aren't there some pretty stupid people? Some irresponsible people? People that, if life ever got reaaaaly tricky and tough, you couldn't count on? Not because they're reactions are rational or sensible in anyway, but because they are ignorant, emotional losers?

C'mon. They're everywhere. Say what you will about the human race, the few drag the many along. I guess what I am saying is you might consider lowering your expectations a little. We didn't go in there to get kissed by some ignorant Iraqi animals. We went in to protect the interests of the United States of America, the best damn country on earth, and we'll suffer some animals, and even lose some of our brave soldiers to get it done.

We are at war. Iraq is being occupied until a civil government can be formed to maintain law and order. In the meantime, any and ALL protesters and anyone else rioting or committing mayhem should be mowed down in a hail if gunfire. That's all.

I don't believe we ever did in the first place. America needs to adopt a policy of "Shock'n Walk" IMHO. Regimes that harbor, support or fund terrorism in the world get hit, destroyed , wiped from the face of the earth and the DOD is back in the hanger, docks and or barracks by the end of the week. To use warriors as nation building tools is bullshit. Always was and always will be. When people get tired of their infastructure being blown to hell by American Military and Overt-Covert "contractors" they will police themselves.

Uncle Sugar is ours........not the entire worlds. Long live our Republic and Doom on the Socialist Demonrats who strive to make democracy a conduit to communisim.

Stay Safe........

But democracy IS communism. That is why we live in a constitutional republic.

Democracy is also a form of worship. It is the worship of Jackals by Jackasses.
