Hi Long Cut,

Do yourself a favor and check out the Rock River Arms AR-15. I had a local FFL order me one for $25 over cost, and have less than $650 in mine brand new. It's a shorty A3 style with the Wilson barrel and national match trigger. I ordered the olive drab stocks, just to be different, and it looks great. So far I've found it to be very accurate, well made and reliable.

One trick is to order a complete upper and a complete lower, rather than an assembled rifle. I think you get out of paying some federal taxes, since they're parts, not a gun, and the shipping is much cheaper for the same reason. FedEx charges a surcharge for shipping firearms, due to the expense of theft, etc. during transit.

The Benelli M1 Super 90. They'll go anywhere from $600 to upward of $1000, depending on which accessories you spring for with it. *info here*

*auction *here*>

Info on the very similar Beretta 1201, which I prefer, *here*.

"This 'ban' is where the whittling away stops."

If this whittling doesn't stop with the republicans in power, we can then be certain that both parties have the same anti-gun, anti-rights agenda. No Citizen will be able to deny that we will no longer have a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

That doesnt answer my question...what is the NRAs position on Bush's decision to sign a renewal? I know they beat up The Usual Suspects all the time but what about RINO's esp when they hand pick them? The kitty is big on this one since both sides have taken a 'hardline'. Frankly, w/ the stupid Ramadan 'BBQ' at the WH, cuddling up to Teddy (only to be embarassed later), the AW renewal etc I cant see much of a reason to vote for him next time. *At least the Dems are HONEST.* Theyre evil and make no bones about it. You can fight that. However, when you have a supposed 'friend' keep stabbing in the back its awful hard to figure out which way the enemy is coming from. In a lot of ways Bush Jr reminds me of Jimmy Carter...a good 'ole boy naive sap who's best intentions crash and burn at the worst possible time. A leader he's not...too bad too since this country needs one desparately.

I'm withholding my judgement about that. Personally, I think he's crazy like a fox, and I hope I'm right. We'll see when the cards are turned next year.

Well, I see Rhoderic has already drawn so much fire that I don't need to pile on.

The AWB is just one more of a seemingly infinite series of artifacts left over from The Decade of Fraud(s)... yes, I'm referring to the Golden Age of Clinton, as Wes Pruden at the Washington Times so acerbically described it some years ago.

It seems to me that if we really want to go down this road of banning certain Constitutionally-guarded things, based on one group or the others dislike of the way they look, that we should do the same thing with free speech- perhaps registering news organizations and reporters next...

The Ramadan thing was to lull the bastards into not targeting the country again and putting them to shame if they did. It's the only thing he can do to protect the general public, short of a round-up. I think he knows all hell will break loose in this country if the crazies start doing their business here again and is doing his best to prevent it. I ask myself, what would I do if I was in his position, and I'd do the same thing if the safety of the people were my first consideration before I went to Plan B. IMO

what is the NRAs position on Bush's decision to sign a renewal?

Dunno - except it would be somewhat *awkward* for NRAILA to go to the effort of outlining a firm position *against* AWB and then support GWB in signing any extension.

IIRC, GWB never said he'd sign it - it was a comment made by a staffer. We're less than a year away from *sunset* and there remains little to no momentum in Congress to do anything to stop it.

Regardless of the administration position, you can be confident the NRA is both 1. Responsible for the current lack of Congressional interest and 2. Working hard to ensure support for renewal remains *NON EXISTENT*.

GOA, JFPO and others are surely doing the same, but the only pro gun organization democrats fear is the NRA.

Theyre like the clinton's...no shame. Look at the crimes they perpetrated for the lamest of reasons. I like the round up idea myself. Most are here illegally OR shouldnt have been let in in the 1st place. Might as well get the job done now rather than later. No sense in letting them put in deeper roots. What the American people want (long for) is a Leader who will make the tough calls and tell the truth and tell his detractors to take a hike. Bush started out OK but now he's lapsed into this pathetic nicer than PollyAnna thing.

Awkward...right it sure would be.

Didnt know that about the aid...but then again no one has denied it either.

Maybe about the NRA...mostly I thin its the fact common people voted against more gun laws in the past couple of elections.

If you were a member of the NRA, you would know exactly where they stand on the issue.

The people who are saying that they won't vote for him somehow must have sat out the election because he said BEFORE THE ELECTION he would sign it if it reached his desk.

During the last election, we worked hard because I and the other NRA members knew that the people who were going to be voted in would be deciding the AWB. We had NRA members working in the offices of the A rated candidates.

That's why today, we have the votes to stop it in the committee before it reaches Congress. We now have to remind those elected why they're there in the first place. It's up to us.

Let's remind Bush and the members of Congress who put them there.

But I am in no way going to go back to putting the dems back in the White House. We have to go forward, not back.

"Bush started out OK but now he's lapsed into this pathetic nicer than PollyAnna thing."

I'll have to admit I was more than just a little pi$$ed when he rolled over on the Estrada apointment. But I'll wait until September next year to decide on the rest.

The recipe on the box is fine. What we need is people who know how to follow the directions and mix the ingredients properly.

While your sentiment is right on target, you have reached an erroneous conclusion. You are assuming that the disarmaratchiks would find something wrong with the murder of millions of unarmed Americans. That is thier agenda, to disarm then reeducate or eliminate anyone who doesn't embrace the rule of the armed elitists.

The Liberal Elites are the direct decendants of Naziism, the names have changed, but the goals and tactics remain the same. Soon, it will come down to dying for what We believe in or dying for what the Nazis do. One way or the other, blood is going to be shed.

On that day The Republic is reborn or the Thousand Year Reich resumes where it left off. Until then, pray for your children and keep your rifle handy. We'll need both before this chapter of history is written.
