WASHINGTON (AP) -- It was supposed to be a victory lap through the nation's capital for Arnold Schwarzenegger, but with wildfires devastating southern California, the governor-elect's meetings with congressional leaders focused on a more pressing problem -- aid for his state.

We become so accustomed to politicians making promises during campaign,
then breaking their promise once elected, that we sit in awe and shock when
one does as they promised.
We elected Republicans to remove the democrats. Now it's time to start
replacing each of the so-called republicans with those that have sincere
respect for all our Constitutional rights.
That may mean voting for a Libertarian, however.
I think you are giving them too much credit. I doubt that the Constitution ever even enters into these peoples' minds when they are pushing their agendas. I think it is an utter irrelevance to them, a vague notion from the history books with as much interest to them as the Treaty of Westphalia.
I'm not shocked or awed. He said he supported it during the campaign, and he's following through on it. In that sense, he has more integrity than most of his political contemporaries. I felt that this was of interest to those who support the RKBA, and didn't intend it to suggest that I thought the man was somehow flip flopping on anything. I believe him to be profoundly wrong, but I do give hime credit for supporting exactly what he said he supported during the campaign.

Likewise, as I'm sure we all do; Shocked and in awe, non-the-less.

10-4. I don't believe gun control is all that important to Schwarzenegger and I expect to see him essentially pay lip service to the issue. He does have to work with Feinstein to get "benefits" for California so he won't oppose her on an issue she is essentially hysterical about.
Let's see what Arnie does, not worry so much about what he says on this subject.
"I still think you are number 1 Arnold. I don't care if want to kill more babies, tax more people, ban more guns, disregard the Constitution, let gays get married. You are a Republican and that is all that needs to be said."
Sounds like there is enough evidence there to endict those two for conspiring to deprive Americans' of their civil Rights.
Under Title 18, Chapter 13, Section 241, that is a federal felony, punishable by 10 years in jail.
I won't go that far in my magnanimity, I'm afraid. He's a high-profile political/entertainment figure. The mere fact that he is publically aligning himself with Feinsteing on the issue raises the issue in the public consciousness and gives this abomination momentum it need not have had otherwise. There's nothing he can do legislatively on this, but his public pronouncements are damaging nevertheless.
It's a sad commentary, to expect something other than what
a person promises they will do.
What's even more saddening, is seeing the ever-growing
amount of complacency regarding a politician's indifference
to our Constitutional rights.... simply because they have been
elected while flying the flag of a certain political party.
UGH. When it stinks, it stinks.

Not quite. They're planning to deprive citizens of a civil right under color of law, a violation of the next chapter of Federal Civil Rights law, 18 U.S. Code the U.S. Criminal Code, Section 242. And, presumably, armed police will enforce the laws they propose....
Section 242; - Deprivation of rights under color of law:
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
