My second belief is this: if the fires were started by terrorists, unless Osama Bin Laden (or whoever is playing him) admits it in a message, no one in the mainstream press will have the courage to step forward and call it ‘terrorism.’

Just like the LAX shooting on July 4 at the El Al counter, nobody was willing to call it terrorism until six months later, apparently to not cause an outrage against our enemies.

Last year Arizona's 600,000 acre Rodeo-Chedeski Fire was started by an out of work Apache firefighter. This year dozens of fires have been started on the reservation by people trying to duplicate his success. Maybe we should round up all the Injuns and put them on a reservation.

It is up to individual citizens to observe the habits and sympathies of their neighbors. It is up to individual citizens to learn fire safety, first aid, CBR and survival techniques. It is up to individual citizens to arm themselves against criminals and terrorists.

It was individual citizens who identifed (and thwarted, in some cases) 9-11 terrorists by using their cell phones. The government didn't have a clue.

To have the government attempt to "make us safe" will not work, and will destroy freedom in America.

This is a war and it is time that we treat it as such. Those Mosques which preach Jihad against America (or Israel) and raise money for terrorist-related causes need to be closed down and the Clerics who run them interned for the duration of the war.

I would suggest a slightly different solution wrt those living in the US who abet Islamic terrorism. Give them a choice between deportation or serving long prison sentences without parole.

It's not the free lancers that are the problem. It's the failure to recognize that we are at war. That burning and wildfires have been recognized as a threat for several years and that nobody is doing anything about it.

I don't buy that there was nothing they could do. They could create fire breaks for just this eventuality. They better figure it out or it's just going to keep recurring.

Good post. And hes right, the consensus now is that there is a terror aspect to the fires, but CNN nor the Bush White House will call it such. Its like that guy on the 4th of July 2002, who carried the gun into LAX and killed someone. We didnt find out his nationality, Egyptian, until 3 days later. Technically this should read "those who advocate the violent overthrow of the government".

Of course those people should be arrested- not just "interned".

Firstly, if they were terrorist acts, they were inept terrorist acts. They started them in the wrong places!.

If **I** were to select places to begin terrorist wildfires, I would not conveniently locate them so that they affected only relatively sparsely populated and wealthy communities. I'd make sure they hopped the freeways, which almost none of them did.

Secondly, internment is not necessary. Revoking the visas of ALL citizens of terrorist-supporting Muslim states--followed by rounding up and mass deportations--would suffice.

We are seeing and hearing this week from our President on a variety of subjects. One in particular he chided us about the fact that he "felt" the American people were not ready to come out strongly on Abortion. Does this reflect your position on this barbaric proceedure? Yes I know he said he would sign the bill banning abortion and all that but this is just posturing. I personally feel he should feel the heat of true Americans on the issue of the wholesale Murder of the Innocent;it is much more of a issue than they maket out to be.

Second; his love affair with islam is raising eyebrows all over and if he follows suit like he has on other subjects he will probably say something to the effect that he feels the American people would not agree with a heavy handed approach in whacking islam because it is after all a religion of peace! I know your response to this one and I hope all the real Americans will scream their heads off until he hears the message loud and clear. He is not his Imperial Majesty yet and is subject to the will of the people who elected him. This is my official position Mr. President; stop pandering to our enemies and realize the error of your flawed policy in regards to islam.
