I am honored to be considered in the same foreign policy group as George Washington. Cheers to you!

BTW, I had no idea you were such a Clinton fan. Did you cry when he was Impeached?

The 1st freep - scorcher !

23"Oh, that my words were written!
Oh, that they were inscribed in a book!
24That they were engraved on a rock
With an iron pen and lead, forever!
25For I know that my Redeemer lives,
And He shall stand at last on the earth;
26And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,
That in my flesh I shall see God,
27Whom I shall see for myself,
And my eyes shall behold, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!
28If you should say, "How shall we persecute him?'--
Since the root of the matter is found in me,
29Be afraid of the sword for yourselves;
For wrath brings the punishment of the sword,
That you may know there is a judgment."

From my nostaligia piece last October,

Freeper JohnGalt to Marry on Saturday

I discovered the Internet: Beachbum’s Clinton Scandal Page, Vince Foster, Chinese Espionage, Matt Drudge and FreeRepublic. In March of ’97, I placed a VISUALIZE IMPEACHMENT bumpersticker on my ’88 Chevy Blazer.

In the early days of my Internet introduction to the fringes of American politics, I was to meet so many folks in weekly chat rooms to discuss philosophy and activist politics. We were libertarians and conservatives and some unrepentant leftists who understood the tools of the Internet better than any. We set out to do the unthinkable, impeach a popular president against insurmountable odds. Culturally, we were all different, much like the forefathers. There were libertines, evangelicals, puritans, and simple forefather enthusiasts who liked beer and football.

Not a huge fan, but I do think he's kind of funky.

Yes, this article SHOULD be posted every year. Actually, it should be posted more often than that -- every time that major and uninformed attack on how JimRob runs FreeRepublic rears its ugly head.

I've been here since 1998, and I learned some things from this which I had not known prior to now. There are not many people whom I respect totally, always, and without reservation. JimRob is one of those rare few -- and I wager the same goes for the attitudes that most other Freepers have about JimRob.

I really can't understand people....if one considers this to be the "ole sob story" yet again, why the hell read it??

It's kinda like buying a DVD, listending to it and deciding you don't like, then keep on listening to it only to complain about it over and over and over again.

We settled the suit with the LAT/WP and all is fine on that front. We also settled the suit against eschoir and have paid about two thirds of the legal bills. We have one more year of payments left at $3,000 per month.

We have filed notice with the City of Fresno of our intent to sue for libel, defamation, etc, and they have 90 days to respond (less than 60 days left). They sent us a feeler recently regarding possible settlement and we've informed them that we are open to discussion. Have not heard back from them yet.

Our bandwidth/server situation is fine. John negotiated a new contract with our supplier at the end of last year, which brought our monthly rate significantly down.

And to bring the current state of my personal finances up to date, I still have the same house, the same mortgage, and the same beat up old '89 GMC Jimmy. We decided a couple years ago to take a trip to Texas for the NFRA convention so we bought a used van to make the trip. It's a '93 Mercury Villager that I bought out of the want ads for $5,000 from a little old lady who only drove it around town, but it runs great. We've now made two trips to Texas and have driven it all up and down the state of California to various rallies and events, etc. No problems.

Other than the van and some much need computer equipment and normal repairs and maintenance, etc, we've made no major purchases since I started FR. The last of my stock was sold to pay taxes. My savings have long been depleted.

My mortage is now down to around $165,000. I still have around $20,000 in personal debt, on which I'm making regular monthly payments, plus some current year tax liabilities (to the AFers: yes Mojo, I do pay my taxes).

And that's about it.

To sum it up, we're doing fine.

We aint rich, but, by the grace of God, we're not in the poorhouse either. And we're still happy as clowns and not complaining a bit.

Thank you all very much!!

And thank God for America and for the Liberty loving patriots who keep her free!!

The AFholes are truly something. They have a FOUR YEAR obsession with Free Republic. It's something else.

I guess a few more people than me need that 12-step program, huh? ;^)
