PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A man driving a stolen pickup truck ran over five motorcyclists Wednesday, killing two and critically injuring another, police said. The man, later identified as Timothy E. Pilgren, 26, got into an argument with the bikers - five men and one woman - before running them over on a coastal highway, Panama City Beach Deputy Chief of Police David Humphreys said.
"He pulled up behind the five motorcycles, hit the gas, and plowed right through them," Humphreys said. A female died on the scene, and a male biker was declared dead at Bay Medical Center Hospital. Another man was in critical condition late Wednesday, Humphreys said.
Witnesses told police that the two remaining bikers got back on their motorcycles and chased the truck. They alerted an officer in a marked Environmental Protection vehicle who joined in pursuit.
None of the biker's identities was released before their families could be notified. License plates on the motorcycles were from Michigan, and stickers on the bikes said "Property of Outlaws," Humphreys said.
Former Outlaws leader James Lee "Frank" Wheeler was convicted of racketeering for his running of the international biker gang in Tampa Sept. 30.
Humphreys could not say whether the incident was gang-related.
"They chased the truck to a dead end road, when the individual rammed the vehicle," said Humphreys. "The officer held the subject at gunpoint, when a shot went off."
Nobody was injured in the struggle, and Pilgren arrested and charged with two open counts of murder, Humphreys said. After being questioned by police, he was going to be delivered to Bay County Jail late Wednesday night.
"The people here at the scene were shocked, this was very uncommon for the area," said Humphreys. "We're a resort community on the coast, we don't get many murders."
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was assisting in the investigation, Humphreys said.

As a person who loves motorcycles and rides whenever I can, I hate to hear these kinds of stories. It is a dangerous world out there and when your on a bike, it is not a good idea to p*** someone off in a truck or a car while your riding ( unless you can pop the throttle and leave them in the dust , turbocharged motorcycles rule !! heh heh ). Everytime I see someone on a bike giving a person in a car/truck a hard time, I have to think how idiotic they are! It is a battle you will not win. The best thing to do is get away and not bother. I would rather be enjoying the ride than end up a spot on the rode. These people made a very bad choice ( bikers and the driver), and paid for it dearly.

I wonder where this happened, and what they argued about. Sounds almost like road-rage.I suspect that there was a verbal altercation leading up to this event. Could very well be road-rage, but I wonder what instigated it. Time will tell, but I don't think that the truck driver is going to win this one.

Well, I am just reminded of something my grandfather used to say:
You lie with dogs, you get up with fleas... if these were outlaw members, probably a whole lot more to this story than just some innocent bikers being run over by a truck driver.

cager = automobile driver...the most dangerous of course being the "SUV cager" :O)

Looks like Florida has more than it's fair share of maniac pickup truck drivers . . .
Years ago, bikers wearing colors would instill fear in the hearts of Oscar Grope; it was as if the offended biker could stop the offending vehicle with one outstretched hand and rip the vehicle's door off with the other. Sadly, those days are disappearing.
Keep your head on a swivel, my friend!

...the most dangerous of course being the "SUV cager" :IMO, the most dangerous cagers are the "soccer moms in mini-vans full of screaming kids" cagers. The "little blonde girls in little red cars" cagers aren't far behind.

You lie with dogs, you get up with fleas... if these were outlaw members, probably a whole lot more to this story than just some innocent bikers being run over by a truck driver. And if they were Outlaw members, they probably have friends in the joint. This guy is going to prison, and he's probably not going to survive the experience.
