[history]
ED Koch says New York Times op-ed columnist Paul Krugman is "lamebrained." The former mayor is irked by Krugman's Oct. 21 column explaining why Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad attacked Jews before a Muslim leadership conference, when he said, "The Jews rule the world by proxy: They get others to fight and die for them." Krugman wrote, "So what's with the anti-Semitism? Almost surely it's part of Mr. Mahathir's domestic balancing act." Koch told us: "There is a French expression, 'To understand everything is to forgive everything.' Using Krugman's logic, we should understand Hitler's needs and forgive him as well. He needed to blame Germany's defeat in World War I on the Jews. Krugman's defenses are lame and his column is lame-brained."

Mayor Koch has had little patience lately for criticism from those on the left, going so far as to endorse GW Bush for reelection.
Amazing times we live in.

Zell Miller and Ed Koch will be Co-Chairs of the "Democrats For Bush" campaign next summer. There will be many more democrats jumping ship and joining them when Dizzy Dean gets the nomination. As Zell Miller said tonight.. the democrat party has taken up the 2 most failed messages of the democrat party, "Higher Taxes and Anti-War"

What's not to like? He's always been a character. Old fashioned liberals like him seem downright reasonable these days.

On the whole, Ed Koch was a pretty decent guy.
He was a liberal, but he was an honest, sensible liberal. It's always been suspected that he is homosexual, but if he is, he kept it to himself and never let it effect his political actions.
Going by City Hall today, I noticed a street sign by City Hall Park that reads "AIDS Victims Plaza." I don't know who put it up, but it sounds like the sort of thing that Bloomberg would do. I can't imagine that in the Middle Ages they named any town squares "Plague Victims Square." It just doesn't give you a warm, cozy feeling.

Heh. That's true. I can still remember when I thought JFK was a scumbag. I'd replace 90% of Congressional Democrats with him in a heartbeat today.

Good heavens, Joe, WHY waste perfectly good tar and feathers on this turd?
Just let him keep producing illogical and illiterate and historically inaccurate partisan rants for the Slimes, and watch the whole lot go up in flames in a well-lit fart.

Koch is piling on Krugman. It's going to take tons and tons of piling on exposure, though, before the air-pocketed, tiny brains at the NYTimes finally GETS IT....that it has the donkey of donkeys in Krugman.
