This wouldn't even get press coverage if there weren't already fires there. 3.7 is an everyday occurance.

A 3.7 earthquake is a rattle. A 5.0+ gets some attention.

...We now see 2 SkyCranes scooping up water out of Lake Arrowhead.

...Fires now started up on the Mountain ridge north of Lake Arrowhead throwing lots of smoke back onto the High Desert where many evacuees are holed up.

Thanks, we live in NJ and have a hard time getting up to date news about Lake Arrowhead. Hubby's brother lives there.

There is some truth to that. There appears to be a higher incidence of earthquakes in CA during weather patterns similiar to the one present over the past few days. The cause may be related to a change in the stress exerted by the wind on the earth's surface when the wind blows from the east as it has been doing the past few days.

I was in Sunnyvale, Ca during the Loma Prieta earthquake. It was a hot dry day.

...Did you evacuate to the High Desert or south of the fires..?

...I have a relative who left Big Bear Lake for the second time in as many days yesterday and is now sitting on the High Desert where the new Arrowhead smoke is coming to, I'm sure.

...Another is cornered by 3 fires at the north end of the San Fernando Valley trying to decide which one to run from.

...KNBC Channel 4 just showed us Reporter CHUCK HENRY's Tape of firemen on the ground fighting a fire raging in a cabin east of Arrowhead Lake.

...DAVIS is now being informed by KNBC Channel 4 that 150 homes have been destroyed at the southeast side of Lake Arrowhead. DAVIS had no idea.

...DAVIS now calls on the Feds to give us more resources to help.
