Authorities Arrest Suspected Arsonist Hikers In Eaton Canyon Reported Man POSTED: 10:04 p.m. PST October 28, 2003
ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST -- A man was arrested Tuesday after deputies caught him setting a fire in a steep, remote canyon filled with dry brush and large trees in the Angeles National Forest, according to sheriff detectives.
Hikers in a remote trail about a half-mile north of the Eaton Canyon Bridge in Altadena saw a man making a fire there and alerted authorities, sheriff's Detective Ed Nordskog said.
Los Angeles County Parks officials and deputies arrived about 10 a.m. as the man was standing next to a fire about four feet in diameter. He warned the deputies to stay away and not extinguish the blaze, Nordskog said.
The man, identified as Dikran Armouchian, 23, of Pasadena, made comments about the fire he had started -- and a smaller one nearby -- as it was extinguished, Nordskog said.
Officials noted that the area was ripe for the fast spread of a fire, he said.
Armouchian, who had been reported missing by his family in Glendale, was booked at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station and held in lieu of $50,000 bail, Nordskog said.
The U.S. Forest Service's Law Enforcement Section and the Sheriff's Arson/Explosives Detail are investigating the case, Nordskog said.

I think it is funny when people put their heads in the sand and refuse to even CONSIDER the evidence.

As I and a couple other people found, on the (free) part of USAsearch linked from Yahoo, you get four "Armouchians" for Pasadena. (This guy has been variously reported to be from Pasadena or Glendale.)
There is an ENORMOUS Armenian-American population in Southern California, and both Pasadena and Glendale seem to have a ton of Armenian Orthodox churches and cultural centers.

Armouchian sounds Armenian. There have been a lot of immigrants to California over the last 10 years, refugees from Muslim encroachment in formerly Soviet controled areas.
These newcomers are not as welcome;organized crime syndicates have been rumoured. Also, there was an Armenian terrorists group aligned with the PLO some years back. There may be a connection here.
This deserves further attention.

There have been hundreds, perhaps thousands, of non-terrorist arson wildfires set in this country.

In Arizona, you can use deadly physical force to prevent the arson of an occupied structure, or a fire that you reasonably believe would spread to an occupied structure. You can also use deadly physical force to prevent the arson of a railroad trestle.
Ah, yes...........that's in Arizona, not California. I have no doubt that the California hikers who reported him will be arrested for being "inseeeeeeensitive" to someone with an ethic-sounding name.

Armenia prides itself on being the first nation to formally adopt Christianity (early 4th century). Despite periods of autonomy, over the centuries Armenia came under the sway of various empires including the Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Persian, and Ottoman. It was incorporated into Russia in 1828 and the USSR in 1920. Armenian leaders remain preoccupied by the long conflict with Muslim Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, a primarily Armenian-populated region, assigned to Soviet Azerbaijan in the 1920s by Moscow. Armenia and Azerbaijan began fighting over the area in 1988; the struggle escalated after both countries attained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. By May 1994, when a cease-fire took hold, Armenian forces held not only Nagorno-Karabakh but also a significant portion of Azerbaijan proper. The economies of both sides have been hurt by their inability to make substantial progress toward a peaceful resolution.

Damn, John, you're the first one who's mentioned the word "muslim". Get a grip. Maybe it's running though people's heads that he might be muslim, but at least they are having the good sense to wait for it.
There's a decent chance that the guy is just a good 'ol anarchist SOB, religion beside the point.
Careful - it looks like your knee has a nervous condition.

It appears that State Farm is going to take a $1 billion hit so far, as they have the policies for about 20% of the 2,000 homes destroyed.
Please don't gripe to your State Farm agent when your rates go up, okay? You've been forewarned.

Um, you need to read the original thread from last night...pretty explicit desperate hoping the guy was a Muslim.
And the original post on this thread seemed pretty excited at the prospect the guy's name sounded "Turkish." Doesn't take a brain surgeon to see where that was headed.
If one is a regular reader of the board you'd have to be fairly retarded not to be aware there's a large faction of FR that spends each day desperately hoping for Muslims in the US to commit, or get stopped in progress while committing, terror attacks in the US so people can break out their oh-so-clever and original "NUKE MECCA AND MEDINA" posts with a pic of a mushroom cloud.
The problem is in the last 2 years there have been shockingly few of them. As best I can tell, it's a grand total of FOUR individuals, only one of which with an actual AQ connection (including Reid, who technically was over the Atlantic when he tried) which is a bit of a problem if you think every Muslim is a terrorist and we're in World War III against all Islam.

Reminds me of the story I read a couple of years ago on here.
They found a fellow, burned to death after they put out a fire in a CA forest who was wearing full scuba gear.
They eventualy figured out that a fire helicopter, which had picked up a load of water from the ocean, scooped him up them dropped him.

I know what you're saying, but this post was pretty reserved. I'm just saying that polarization goes both ways, and you assume that muslims are "never" at fault, or sometime it seems. Seems is the work.
However it's not WW III, it would be WW IV. The Cold War is IMHO an analogue to WW I in relation to WW II. Unfinished business, as it were.
The first act of this war consists of mainly a muslim cast, but acts two and three will introduce new characters.

I think you are ridiculous because you won't consider the facts, yes we are pretty excited about it being a possible terrorist attack.... How in the world can you be so snug??? Armenia is right in the neighborhood of the world that hates us most and you won't even consider... you are so obtuse and reserved on the subject that you are insinuating that people who think this may be ISLAMO terrorist are some how haters.... well, Armenia is very nearly Persian in geographic locality...
Do you live in a pre 9-11 vacuum???

If you were Armenian, you'd be nervous, too. Talk about an ethnic group that has been raped over and over for, oh, a couple millenia...Everybody's favorite scapegoats, you know?
(I am not Armenian, but am married to one)...
