Welcome aboard to Kevin McCullough. He says in his column, "Up until recently I have been willing to cut folks like Schumer and Durbin a break and believe that they were simply wrong on many of the issues that I disagreed with them on. But the days have changed. They along with Senator's Kerry and Lieberman seem intent on opposing Christianity in its purest form. And for this they move from the realm of the wrong to the realm of the evil" ["Democrats vs. Christians: A 2004 Senatorial Referendum," October 27].

This is the awful question that all conservative Republicans must face with respect to most of today's Democrat leadership - are they stupid or are they corrupt/evil/whatever? I use the word "awful," because the implications of deciding that they are not stupid are fearsome implications to behold.

Take Clinton's foreign policy. Most Republicans look back and shake their heads in wonderment with how "stupid" Clinton was in the foreign policy arena. Even recent books on the subject can't face the awful truth - Clinton is not a stupid man. Accordingly, just what corruption/evil was he attempting to bring about? I'll leave that answer for another time, since...

That's past history now. More importantly, what corruption/evil are all nine Democratic candidates for President trying to bring about right now when they constantly attempt to undercut President Bush and his foreign policy?

Just how do they think that the little terrorists all over the world are supposed to assess events such as the recent Democrat candidate debate when they see the event on their TV on CNN in some Baghdad hovel?

There was pure corruption/evil to behold during that debate. Maybe one or two of those nine candidates are stupid people, but not all nine.

There's no doubt that the Democrat Party is evil. All you have to do is look at their platform and their politics. Democrat Party supports:

Murder of the unborn;

Destruction of the 5000 year-old institution of marriage thru an avalanche of pro-gay legislation;

Destruction of our Republic in favor of tyrannical majority rule;

More power to the centralized State which ingenders destruction of individual freedoms;

Destruction of traditional morality - Democrats are machiavellian moral relativists who have no morals other than the morals of power;

Destruction of national sovereignty through their obsequious obeisance to the United Nations, and the saturation of U.S. society with ignorant illegal masses;

Along with their liberal-humanist ACLU brethren, destruction of the U.S. Constitution via the illegal rulings of a rogue judiciary, especially the destruction of FREEDOM OF RELIGION, but also the dismantling of the 2nd, 4th and 10th Amendments

If the Democrat Party isn't evil, then neither was the Nazi Party - both have dehumanized persons to justify their killing (jews for Nazis, babies for Dems). Both are socialist and both want the State to lord it over the people.

Precisely. That's why the dems are in favor of it. A disaster on Bushs' watch means that they return to power. Whereas, before the war, most of 'em were for it. Why? Opinion polls showed that they would get whacked in the 2002 election unless they supported the war. I think the venal and evil explanation fits pretty well.

Now, as to democrat voters (not the leaders), I think your explanation works well. They are bizarrely susceptible to glib one-liners like 'no blood for oil' and 'the rich get richer and the poor . . .' and 'the democrats are for the little guys.' Maybe emotional thinking plays into that.

Slogans are fine as long as they represent a shorthand for coherent thinking. But I have not been able to ascertain anything beyond the slogan supporting the opinions of most democrat supporters. The slogans are the opinions.

Precisely correct. At the root of the matter, it is not Dems vs. Repubs, or even liberal vs. conservative, it is a battle of worldviews: Secular humanism (atheism) vs. Judeo-Christianity. And anyone with a brain knows that the end of secular humanism is SLAVERY!

That said, a large number of their constituents as well are evil. But others are both stupid and evil. Some are just plain stupid - which in effect makes them evil as they have no excuse for their ignorance in supporting evil.

If you look closely, you'll find most of their supporters have moral corruptions of various degrees and are mostly without genuine moral sensibilities, even the ones who outwardly look "good". They have an immoral twist to them, just like their leaders. That's why they follow them.

I agree with your post. A good example of this is Lieberman - he is falsely praised by some conservatives for not being as far left as the others. The fact is that this so-called orthodox jew believes in killing babies. So much for his moral compass!

I would add that most of these people are blind to the truth. They live by their stomachs and their hedonistic urges.

Any pol, no matter how moral he appears, has a moral screw loose if he claims the title of Democrat.

We the smart people have been fighting against this tide for many yr's.I don't think weve all just been sitting our hands.

consider this, my whole family up intill the peanut farmers reign all voted democrat. after his miserable failures in office my parents woke up to the realization that something had gone wrong with the democrat party. the party had left them.

it takes time to turn tides and we still have a lonnnng way to go.
clinton was a wakeup call for a lot of people, look at the freepers here who not so long ago were democrats.
they've woke up and made the same realization that my parents made at the end of the 70's.

some feel the only way to make a diffence is in the voting booth, others hit the street's to help get out the vote, still other's have signed up for public service to make a differnce or some folks have even ran for state or local office to make a difference. and i really believe that us the SMART PEOPLE are making a difference!!!
