Goons gone wild a tired election act (Phila Election)

Appologies to those of you who I pinged on another thread and posted this exact same thing on the Phila Election (no new material below).

Two rumors I've been hearing the last three days from reliable, connected sources:

1.  Street will be facing federal indictments from the FBI, IRS, and HUD in relation to a housing scam he was running in North Philadelphia.  Federal funds were passed out through the Minority Enterprise Business Council.  In some cases the houses were built far below HUD guidelines and in others, the houses were just never built.  Apparently quite a few kickbacks were going on and the misappropriated money totals around $10 Mil.
Street will be in good company in Lorreto (I hear he won't go to Allenwood) with his brother, John White, Shamsud-din Ali, and possibly even police chief Sly Johnson.  They'll likely have 5 to 12 years to spend quality time with one another.

2.  Street knows his days are numbered and is engineering a coup to install Jannie Blackwell as the new head of city council in place of the more sane Anna Verna.  The head of city council will assume the mayor's role until the next regularly scheduled election in Nov. of 2004.
Supposedly, Verna has the votes of Frank DiCicco, Jim Kenny, Frank Rizzo Jr., and whomever is the other Republican at large apointee (my guess is it's Jamie McDermott).  The other 11 are aligning behind Blackwell, who's going to be just as big a nightmare as Street has been.

I really hope I'm wrong about the second part of this post.

It used to be the unions were an auxiliary of the local Democratic Party. Lately, the party has become an auxiliary of the unions.

At every level, from local to national.

Hmmm. I wonder if this has to do with those $80,000 rowhomes they're selling around the Temple U. area?

Anyway, even if Gore had been elected, I'm sure Andy Cuomo would have been on the case.

Street is, was and always will be a hood a thief and a goon.

I don't live in the city anymore, but I still don't live far enough away form the smell that comes from some of the elected officals to which street is the #1 stink.

I read today that Street has a big lead over Katz now.

In the neighborhood next to mine (Hawthorn), the new row homes were built for the paltry sum of $286,000.  Central Air, Cable, Washer and Dryer, Garage... just the bare essentials, for those on public assistance.

I don't mind footing the bill for that and to line the pockets of the Street cronies.  After all, I'm a Conservative White Republican, and we're all rich and powerful.

Dom Giordano said the sexual harrassing thrown at Mrs. Katz went beyond the little in this report. Dom said the thug who yelled out "You know you want me baby!' was the least of it.

He also reported that seventy year old ladies were pushed around by the union thugs and < ther candles blown out >. Not sure if I caught that last part right. Maybe it was a candle light vigil.

Yeessh ...

Your exactly right about Doughtery being a thug. I live in the NW suburbs of Philadelphia. I couldn't less about the city. It is filled with vicious union thugs, and moronic a-holes who spend their drunken pathetic lives in the 700 level, mumble incoherent broken babble on WIP, and think their life has meaning because they know where to buy a cheesesteak. Goode was an idiot, Rendell was a crook, and Street is a racist thug. The city is dirty, old, tired, and expensive. We never go there. You can't take your wife and children to a ballgame for fear of having some drunk assault you or scream profanities, which is also the same reason you can't take them to a political rally.

Too bad Goode's aerial bomb on MOVE didn't take out the entire city.

"Lately, the party has become an auxiliary of the unions."

They're justing following the NEA role model. And this is not recent but standard practice for decades. I guess the author just woke up and smelled the coffee.

Speaking of the MOVE bomb -- has Katz reached out to the many distressed black families who were burnt out and then moved into the new built houses -- which had many many problems, mostly due to corruption during the construction, they were poorly built and sloppily finished. That group is at war with the City administration -- Rendell/Street.

Doc, I lived in Philly from 1968 to 1972. It's comforting to see that the city hasn't changed at all, only the cast members.

I missed Dom's show but Jeff Katz was implying that they were calling Mrs. Katz "the C- word".  Gross, disgusting, vulgarity.  The Democratic party does themselves proud once again.

Hang in there Owl-Eagle and get out the vote.-Temple Owl

Despite the fact that I strongly suspect we're not going to win, the house is fully stocked with Katz posters, fliers, tape and staple guns, just waiting for the rain to let up.

I'll be out on election day, knocking on doors, giving rides, whatever it takes.  (As a Temple Football fan, I'm used to impossibly uphill battles)
