IMPACT: The coronal mass ejection described below has reached Earth (at approximately 0630 UT on Oct. 29th) and apparently triggered a strong geomagnetic storm. Red auroras have been spotted as far south as central California. Stay tuned for updates.

Well, still nothing here, except that my microwave "forgot" what time it is. That never happens (it's 1 1/2 yrs old, top of the line).
I know it's there, I just ain't getting the visuals.
Dang, I wish I were on our farm in Chipman!

Overcast, but glowing skies in southern MN.

I live in Los Osos overlooking Morro Bay and although the view is always beautiful, the only lights I see are from the stars and the rotations of the lighthouse. Ocasionally I will see the stars bleeding together and realize it is just probably a flashback.

Quiet sky here now. Wish the city would turn off all its lights.

Well, since I am sitting here bored at work in Clackamas, I decided to go check it out. I drove to the biggest hill around and parked at Portland Lincold Memorial Park. I did not see anything, probably because of the city lights and half the sky was cloudy. Eventually some security guard kicked me out of there. I never heard of a park that was private property before.
If there is a show tomorrow night, I will try to check it out from my home. Or since I will be off work, maybe I will drive up to Mt. Hood. Not much to do on your days off when you are up all night.

here in Southern IL way out in the country... I went out at about 3:15am and saw a constant glow to the north. Skys were all clear and all the stars were shining brightly. The I just went out again (it is nearly 4:15am now) and the constant glow is still there to the north but the sky above appears cloudy now. Is the cloudy look in the sky the Aurora? - I didn't see any sudden changes or flashes at all.

Judging by the chart of the auroral donut, the storm seems to have retreated a bit to the north. Hopefully it will come back south as the night progresses.

never mind... we have clouds coming in now, so what I am seeing is the clouds that have been moving in over the last hour.

I'm in Dallas too .... saw a few wisps of it ... oddly enough I think this is a once in a lifetime show.

Hubby & I drove up to Alki for a better look. Nothing too see in the clear patches. Hubby thinks y'all are suffering a mass delusion. :-)

Just south of Seattle here, and nothing for the last hour and a half or so. I hope that one blast wasn't all we're gonna get.

Poor hubby! That chart is
here. We want to see the red portion of the donut covering our area. Right now the Canucks are hogging the show.

Hey, it's still out there. At least I can still see it from The Dalles, Oregon. It's diminished a good bit from what it was at 1:30 am, but there's still a blue-green glow all across the northern horizon.
Earlier, when it was brighter, I saw streamers (I think they're called). They looked like faint spotlights shining up from the northern horizon. And these were reddish colored. They lasted anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds and would decrease and reappear in a slightly different place. I've seen streamers before, but this is the first time I've seen a reddish colored one.

Just got back from driving out into the country north of Milwaukee in hopes of seeing this. Nada. Nothing. Too many clouds, so not even stars were visible.

The magnetometer is rising steeply at the moment. If it continues to rise, we'll get some more sky show.
