Yes, there is definitely a reason that Bush has taken this stance on Islam. In wartime sometimes you have to take positions to improve communications and such. Diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggie" until you can find a rock. - Will Rogers
Many FReepers do not understand diplomacy.
I'm certainly not a military strategist, as a matter of fact, when it comes to complicated geopolitical matters, I'm dumber than a rock, but just for mental flights of fancy, when I think about where I would want a presence if I was Dubya or Rummy, and I had the responsibility of fighting and winning the War on Terror, I would want to be right smack in the middle of all the Islamic states where I could develop intelligence to guide my movements.
Those active cells are emboldened of late because of what the Dem candidates for prez are saying about an exit from Iraq as soon as possible. If the terrorists could get us to turn tail and run, they have visions of lollipops and retaking Iraq dancing in their heads, as their sweetest dreams.
It seems to me that we have gone to a hell of a lot of trouble getting where we are over there and it would not be in our interest to leave anytime soon.
If the Democrats do cause us to leave sooner than we should they will surely own the next attack on our soil.
