Given that only about 1/7 of the Pentagon budget is available for military operations across the world, the $50 billion extra that is asked for continued operations--not just simply in Iraq and the Afghanistan-- is quite reasonable. If Congress really wants to cut costs, they can stop the micro management that rewards bureaucracy at the expense of the men in the field.
