I heard on Michael Savage last night that one week after the triple license plate tax went into affect, San Diego reported a 30% drop in car sales with another 30% drop the next week. Savage had calculated that the state had already lost more money then they wanted to collect in just those couple of weeks. (Not sure on how he reached the numbers, though.) And that was JUST San Diego...

The Sheriff's Department is ordering evacuation for Guatay and Pine Valley as the Cedar Fire advances on Julian. Evacuations had previously been ordered for Pine Hills, Julian and Wynola.
Evacuees are advised to take Farmer Road north to Wynola Road, then go east on Wynola Road to State Route 78 and to continue eastward to Borrego Springs.
Residents of Palomar Mountain are being asked to prepare to evacuate.
"We apologize for the confusion over Palomar, as the situation is fluid and we had conflicting information," the Sheriff's Department notes in a release.
State Route 67 is being reopened between Slaughterhouse Canyon Road and Willow Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. SR67 remains closed from Slaughterhouse Canyon north to Mount Woodson Road Parts of Sunrise Highway have been closed.
People evacuating from the Julian area are being directed to take State Route 78 east to Borrego Springs.
