Hard to say. The scanner folks, while they're saying a lot, are also saying surprisingly little at the same time.
San Bernardino scanner: 18 road blocked. Diverting firefighters along the 189 or the 313.

If the FFs need any fuel, they should help themselves.
Updated link for active fires map of entire US. Shows previously burned areas too. You can choose your area of interest from this link.
http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/
CA & NV area currently from sat tracks 10-27 PM so more accurate than previous link.
Still really like seeing the name's of the fires on the map.
From weblog at

- Fire by high school is getting worse.
- "It is burning between 18 and 189."
- Two strike teams are on their way to Twin Peaks; maybe a third from Highland. Working on getting a total of 5.
- Strategizing is going now at the high school.
- 2 strike teams working their way to Rim Forest.
- There is fighting at the Lumber Yard.
- The pace of the fire at some points is "laying down" for now.

Could you post that to the news-only fire thread, too? :)

The map's from orbit tracks made 10-27 AM, so old. But it's got the names of the fires on it! I got the map ferom a local (Detroit) news website & can't update it from the link provided. Sorry. It looks like this is the page to access the most recent map.
http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/modisrr/firemaps.php?rCode=cgb
The current map was updated 27 October 1500MST (eight hours fresher than the map you saw), but that is the page to check for updates. You can compare the two to see what happened in eight hours.

My posterior is positively painful. :) The fact that I'm sitting in my backyard, where it's actually getting chilly, ain't helping.

Update on previously-posted weblog segment, as of 12:50am:
- Generally, if something''s happening, you''ll hear it... scanner is constantly switching frequencies looking for chatter. The fact that we haven''t mentioned structures burning in Twin Peaks is probably a good sign. I did hear one mention that it was burning down the back of Strawberry Peak though... Firefighters travelling on 189 because 18 is blocked by a downed tree will hopefully see the flames and get in position to save homes in Twin Peaks. It sounds like the order of threat will be: Bear Springs Road, Lake View Lane, Glen View Lane, then Peak Road and Balsam Lane. All kinds of firefighters are travelling along 189, so we gotta hope they keep it from crossing that at least. [Daniel,12:43 AM]

Thanks. I figured out how to get the whole USA from the link I had & narrow it down to CA, NV active fires. We must have been posting at the same time!

From http://www.rimoftheworld.net/
Fire Crosses Highway 18 Warning: The following information is highly speculative and based upon unconfirmed sources and sparce information. Do not assume any losses based upon this information.
Between 10 PM and 11 PM on Monday, the Old Fire broke through the fire lines near Rimforest. Some reports place the fire near Pine St. The fire is mostly crowning (remaining in the treetops), but there are some structures involved or threatened. The communication tower at Strawberry Peak has been lost hampering communications and our ability to listen. Firefighters are retreating from the area. The fire is burning towards Rimforest, Twin Peaks, and Blue Jay.
Below is a rendering of where the fire may be based upon the sparce information available. This may be inaccurate. Do not rely on this for any idea of structure loss. Even if the fire is in this area, the fire has tended to spot and leap over area. Do not assume all areas in red have burned.

Thanks all.....I'm outta here for the night.
You're doing an EXCELLENT job. Prayers for all the firefighters, their families, the people who have lost their homes or loved ones.
God bless y'all...
