Really. I think Drudge's is, too. Using ISDN or something.
To: baseballmom
That is a frightening number.
I am so concerned about the unburned areas around San Diego. One very large area is directly behind my house. I keep hearing about the fires being started by arsonists...
To: BurbankKarl
they use ASDL lines or something... ISDN most likely. No harder to install than a DSL line (I believe it's largely just two regular phone lines combined into one), and allows sound quality comparable to an in-studio mike.

I heat my house with wood, and I have a good chain saw. I have already used up 7 chains that they won't sxharpen amy further because they are worn out. I love my saw. I have developed the attitude that I will cut what I wantd, the crippled, leaning, scraggly, which aren't going to be nice straight trees in the future. If the county hassles me, I just may cut them all down for spite. They don't pay my property taxes. I do. I took out plenty of manzanita, but I didn't have blackberry bushes. Did kill most of the poison oak, also. That's an ongoing thing, along with the star thistle and sow thistle.

We have about 100 yards up a hill to the brush. Which, by the way, hasn't burned fro 25-30 years. So I feel "safe" (HA!).
To: BurbankKarl
who was moving into town to save the town...is that Arrowhead? or Julian...getting my feeds confused
To: BurbankKarl
ther FF are surrouinding the town of Julian.

the City of Glendale put goats in the regular fire bug areas....
as a city they couldn't hire "illegals" like the rest of Socal to do it

Wyoming Air Natl Guard C130s story next on KCAL9

Alot of the owners of the million dollar homes have spent a lifetime getting to that point. However they were graced by God to have that kind of wealth, they still earned it.
I don't know where you live, but a million dollar home in some areas of So Cal today is not so strange, and the average price of a home in the Bay Area is way up there, also.

Last year they had a fire coming up the opposite way to the town. Earlier the FF chief was saying they hoped the fire would reach the burned area which had no real fuel to burn now. I assume they hoped the fire would go around Julian.

*1,060 homes lost in San Diego County *
I heard that on the KOGO almost an hour ago, and didn't type it at the time, because I was sure I didn't hear it right. It's just staggering to think of it.
Where are you in the SD area? Praying for your safety.

Well...thinking about it...ISDN's two B channels. If you mix it all down, including clips and music and anything else, you can send the whole show to the studio on one channel, and still have the other free to use for taking calls & talking to the board op. Plenty of room considering it's AM radio we're talking about.
That's pretty slick, now that I think about it.
