Ditto that report, I'm in West Garden Grove, this morning it was still pretty good but around noon the sky started turning kind of orange-ish. It wasn't too bad Monday and this morning, just a lot of ash. Seems to be getting smokier again.

Yes, thre have been many articles in the paper about the fire risk up there recently. Apparently it is NOT the property owners in the moutains that caused this but the public lands that were not cared for properly.

Second that report, heard the same thing -- reporter talking to FS/FF who was giving update. They have to move back and forth along highway 18 as the fire shifts and as they light backfires.

OK, thanks,I have family at Rancho Cucamonga, I think it's prety much done with there. I was up at Big Bear 2 years ago, we rented jetskis and a boat. It was a beautiful afternoon.

ok. Chuck's up there at Rimforest or somewhere.

I still haven't figured out what anchor left to get his pregnant wife in Stevenson Ranch. Ch. 5 doesn't have a broadcast going -- it's running Jerry Springer

Stevensons is just south of Magic Mountain, yes. My friend moved from a freeway close suburb of S.R. to a more rural one along that "Old Road" that they are talking about in the quoted scanner earlier in the thread. She was very close to that tree that the guy was sitting in to avoid them pulling it to make the road wider.

Those homes are upwards of $500,000.

I wonder if the guy that started this is somekind of demented hiker.

Or a selfish one, who doesn't realize (or care) that his quaint campfire can end up destroying homes and killing people. I love campfires -- they're hypnotic and lovely in their way -- but you have to respect local conditions. Some people out there on the trails (too many, in fact) are clueless morons who just want to go up and drink beer, make big, impressive fires to show how macho they are, and target shoot. South of Anza, I passed an open area with hundreds of spend shell casings and bullet-ridden objects. Cretins. These are the people that give gun-owners a bad reputation.

I don't think it was a hiker.
