Putting the new, untested (in actual operations), gear, in a location opposite our likely next adversary, in equipment the looks like the adversary's equipment through a sight, is a prescription for disaster. < *shudder*>

The BTR 60s don't bother me as much as a BTR 70 or 80. I've heard word that M1s will be in the area to "assist" the Strykers and the Stryker BDEs are full of Javelan ATGMs so a head on engagement with the Syrians would be difficult (for the Syrians).
But I would still want to face these BTR 60s in M1s and M2s... From talking with them, the Marines try to keep their LAVS out of direct combat unless neccessary, preferring the heavy M1s as the hammer.
I just can't shake this lump in my stomach with this whole idea.
