Hillary/Clark in 04 -- Terrorism will be no more! Why, because they would be on the same side as the terrorists??? Or, because Hillary and Clark would rename the terrorists as freedom fighters?

And we still don't know that there was no wider conspiracy behind the snipers. I still suspect there was.
See #57.

See my post #47. And, although AQ never explicitly took 'credit' for the USS Cole, OBL did appear in one of his little videos praising the action and obliquely claiming responsibility. In every instance of AQ terrorism, there's been some sort of eventual acknowledgment of their involvement, even if it hasn't been spelled out.

I wonder if the person who set this fire is a foreigner who got across our porrous Mehico border and into SoCal?
I think it's more likely a home grown member of ELF.

There is a manifest difference between a random nut sympathizer and an outright terrorist conspiracy.

If so will the Dims be quiet and let the POTUS do his work I'm just waiting for the "Where was GW Bush, and what did he know" crowd to start screaming again.....
IF the rumors of a terrorist threat involving setting fires pans out, I predict that we will do nothing.....

The kid who flew his Cessna into that Tampa highrise was also a random nut Al Qaeda sympathizer, I might add.
Random nut sympathizers are random nuts first, and sympathizers second - to be sure.

I'd have to talk to my firefighter kid to find out about point(s) of origin, but you're right-at least as to the differences between the types of fires they'd set.

He's also taken some credit for some of the attacks on US servicemen in Iraq. So yeah, I guess your point that terrorists generally take credit for their deeds has merit. But one implication is that just because no group has 'taken credit' so far for the California wildfires doesn't mean that one won't take credit for it eventually.
And then we'll have to figure out if they were just trying to 'take credit' for something they didn't do, just to plant the fear in peoples' minds.

Hillary/Clark in 04 -- Terrorism will be no more! Sure there will -- terrorism will be a more "abstract" thought though. Like stealing from the poor by paying less than your unfair share of taxes and infringing on the privacy of liberals trying to kill babies, the elderly, or the handicapped.

Random nuts can be used by cleverer people.
Van der Lubbe of the Reichstag Fire was a perfect random nut. I'm reading a book by Hans Bernd Gisevius at the moment. He was a high police official in Germany during most of the Nazi period. Up to now, I've been inclined to the prevailing view that the fire was just the work of the random nut Van der Lubbe. But Gisevius makes some interesting points arguing for a conspiracy. Most strikingly, he points out that the evening of the Reichstag Fire, at the height of an electoral campaign, the Nazis' three chief orators, Hitler, Goebbels, and Göring, all just happened to be in Berlin and without any speaking engagements for the evening.

Do you mean to tell me that our government hasn't ruled out terrorism?

If somebody were to take credit, would the media tell us?

I don't think ELF would destroy so many trees
The Sierra Club and ELF consider forrest fires a part of the natural ecosystem.
It's capitalist mankind that is evil and needs to be punished!
To: Partisan Hack
More than likely another unemployed fireman or other malcontent. I think Al Qaeda is into bigger things than those that could be confused for something natural.

You're assuming facts not in evidence. There were a lot of threads last fall where Muhammad's movements were tracked, and the locales his cross-country crime spree coincided nicely with earlier al Fuqra activity. The extent of Muhammad's involvement with al Fuqra, and possibly, al Qaeda, remains to be seen.
